If anyone in the UK is after a brand-new Xbox Series X|S controller at the moment, we're seeing some pretty good deals at various retailers right now - including online at Amazon UK and Argos.
These prices, which are the lowest we've seen all year, first cropped up at Argos thanks to a 10% discount code, before being price-matched over at Amazon. Across both sites, you can get the standard black and white controllers for just £35.99 - and various colour options are also available at £40.49 a pop.
Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our FTC Disclosure for more information.
You'll see the option to change to those colour choices when you click through the above links, with Astral Purple, Deep Pink, Electric Volt, Pulse Red, Shock Blue and Velocity Green all in stock right now at the retail giant.
Of course, as we mentioned up at the top, Argos is also stocking these controllers at the same prices right now in the UK - if you'd like to grab a new gamepad from a different retailer. Just remember to use the code 'GAMING10' for the best price over at Argos!
Are you thinking of grabbing any of these? Talk to us about your current Xbox controller collection down below.

Do they still come with batteries 😂 a controller that uses batteries in 2025 is very old fashioned imo.
@Residentsteven I feel like I'm in two minds about this.
Sometimes I really like the ability to just throw in a couple of AAs, and other times I'm irritated that I can't just charge a controller like I can a DualShock or Switch Pro.
Obviously you can buy rechargable batteries for these things, but that's another expense that some don't want to fork out for.
@Residentsteven
Might be old fashioned but I like it.
Very convenient imo.
@Residentsteven I've got eneloop rechargeables that I've had since the end of the 360 era that I'm still using in SX controllers. I just keep a couple extra ready to go and it's never a hassle. I would never want to trade for a contained unit that can fail and brick the whole controller, which I've had happen with multiple ps4 controllers
@FraserG you can get a charger with 4 AAs for $20 bucks (used to be $10) on amazon. It's way cheaper than buying a whole new controller or buying single use batteries which really add up. After my play and charge kit failed on 360, rendering my wireless controller forever wired, I switched to rechargeable and most of them have lasted for 15+ years
@AverageJoseph I should try that! Haven't had the best luck with play & charge kits over the years, so that sounds like a good alternative.
I hate how much I spend on AA batteries but then I only have myself to blame as I could save the cost by buying rechargable AAs...
@Kaloudz @Residentsteven @FraserG
I use the MS branded play and charge kit. Get’s 30-40 hours per charge and takes no time to fully charge it. They last me around 3 years and i game on Xbox daily. So they get used often. Luckily it sounds like the next Xbox will have a more built in solution like the Elite Series. However correct me if i am wrong i think the UK government is requesting all batteries have to be removable going forward. Again take that with a pinch of salt. Think i read that a year ago. Not sure if it’s held up or not.

@HonestHick I hope that's true for phones at least. Once upon a time if the battery went, you could buy another and swap it out. These days you need to know how to weld, perform magic screen removals, and be a genuine sorcerer O_o
Thanks for the link bud, that's not badly priced at all. I might get a couple of those for the house.
I used to see there was SOME benefit to AA Rechargeblae batteries But ever since I put a 3m USB-C cable next to the sofa, for charging everything from phone to laptop to Steam Deck, i've had zero problems with battery life on PS5 and Switch Pro controllers. I'd take a built in, but replaceable, battery for Xbox now. The cons outweigh the pros.
@Residentsteven i have the elite 2 that has a battery, i prefer being able to just to swap out a rechargable pack tbh
@Residentsteven Using batteries means the controller will last longer, forever basically. Has the lithium batteries will die, with no official replacement.
@Kaloudz HAHA you ain’t lying about that and thats only if you have a screwdriver small enough to even work on the phone.
Yeah you can’t go wrong with those MS recharge kits. I have been using them since the 360 and Xbox One days. Never did me wrong. Saves me money and time. If you charge it from the console it charges fully in like 30 mins or so. Then it last for 30-40 hours. Unlike the Dual sense which barely gets 10.
@HonestHick Oh man don't even get me started on those stupidly small screwdrivers. That's not even to mention the daft star shaped screws that have the indentation in the centre. I mean why? lol.
Thanks man, I honestly didn't know that the charge ratio was that good. I'll have to buy one because I must spend £30 in batteries each month...
@Kaloudz you will spend that now once every 3 years. Enjoy my brother. Always love chatting with you on here. You keep it real about Xbox, the good, the bad and the in between. The internet wants to hate on us Xbox fans all the time. Saying we are leaving the platform, or this or that and the truth is you, me and many more on here couldn’t give a you know what to those voices. We are Xbox and we will be there day 1 in 2026 or 2027. I love the platform and i love this site, but i don’t like those screwdrivers hahaha
@HonestHick Already added one to my basket. Now, everyone else in the house can work out their own problems with battery fighting lol!
Thanks man. Likewise to you. It's always a pleasure to read your input, of any kind. I couldn't agree more, and like I've said a thousand times before, you hit the nail on the head. It's a hobby, it's an escape, and it's all good fun. People that want to look at the bottom of a teacup for leaf stains and glean something nonsensical from it need to lighten up.
There's far too much going on in the world as is. I can't wrap my head around why folks need to be the opposite to the voice of reason when it's clear as day, one of the best periods in Xbox gaming. I think people are quick to forget the drought we Xbox fans had in (was it?) 2021/2022? That was rough. This space right here and now, I personally don't think Xbox has been stronger since 360.
And with new hardware on the way, new controllers, and handhelds, as well as their massively impressive output, it's hard not to have a positive outlook. I honestly don't get where the hate comes from lol.
@Kaloudz “I honestly don't get where the hate comes from lol”
I can tell you where some of it comes from. A lot of people are mad Xbox won’t go away. They want that day for when the news hits that MS is pulling the plug on Xbox hardware. So they can all come out and say we told you so, and just trash all over the fans of a plastic box. Cause they are that petty and messed up. It means that much to them to be right and shove it in the faces. That isn’t console wars that is mental health issues. They thought for sure they were all going to get the last laugh as MS was bringing Xbox games to PS. So all next gen they just needed a PS6 and they could play all the games. When the answer to that was right in front of them. Phil said he wanted other store fronts on an open platform. Right there say’s Steam and Epic allowing PS games on your windows Xbox hybrid. They never seen it and it was there all along. Now they are really upset on social media and YouTube. Not cause more gamers have more choice, and can play more games but because they lost their haha we got someting on you Xbox guys. This Asus deal with Xbox is the first look into how this next next console will work. That Xbox branded OEM Asus handheld will be able to play Steam and PS5 games. Now just wait until Xbox partners with Alienware and Razer and Asus to make a powerful Xbox hybrid PC that yes might cost a lot but will crush the PS6 in power. They ain’t going to be happy to know we can play PS games on a more powerful box, cause Xbox is using windows and is a PC with console ease of use. Sit back and watch, cause i have my eyes all over the news of this next Xbox strategy and it’s starting to look like a dream machine. The best of PC with the ease of use Xbox console we know and love.
@HonestHick Mate, you literally have this habit of saying it exactly how it is, and a knack for hitting it spot on. Could not have said it better myself if I tried. There's just far too many folks that seem to think it's all downhill from here, whereas me, I don't think I've ever played as many games in my life before in such short spaces of time.
It baffles the mind as to how anyone can argue with either that, the future MS plans (which, handheld has been something people have been screaming at MS to do for years now) or the value of Game Pass and the first party line-up. It's just daft that people seem to want a death to the brand O_o
@Kaloudz Thank you, i am trying to keep it 100 out here.
The thing that gets me is over on Push Square i see them all say i will just buy so and so game when it’s $20 dollar or used and then turn around and say GP makes dev’s no money. So how did your $20 bucks or even worse used copy do anything for the dev. Plus you had to wait that long to play it. GP players are eating on day 1 and giving money every month for MS to cut checks. It makes no sense how if you saying someting really stupid and out of pocket but it’s about Xbox everyone will go along with it. But God forbid i go on there and say some thing truthful about PS and they go banana’s and start name calling and whatever lame tactic to avoid the truth they use. Thats why i say what i say and do what i do cause the Media isn’t telling the truth and the PS sites act like cancelling 12 live service games and Concord is swept under the rug cause well Sony sold 75 million PS5’s. Who cares? I bought a PS5 and am selling it for a Switch 2 when it comes out cause there is no games on it i want to play. About time they get rolling you are look at PS6 or Steam on Xbox. You can’t cancel 12 games and all of a sudden have a roadmap of killer ip’s coming out a year or 2 later. I am just ranting now but this is why i love Pure Xbox and of course yourself and others on here. That other website is just logically messed up. All they do is talk about Xbox and how it’s going out of business or how well Sony is selling. BOOORING and not even true about Xbox.
@HonestHick Mate, exactly right you are. In all that you've just said. It's like this game that was announced yesterday. I forget the title but it's a Sony owned game that's going to PS, Nintendo Switch and PC. Sony can release cross platform (or at least a publisher can release a Sony owned IP) and no one says jack squat, but all burn Xbox for doing the same thing? O_o Make that make sense, lol.
This wont be the first time Sony does it (it isn't actually as we have Lego Horizon and MLB) and it certainly wont be the last - but the rhetoric is totally different based on the company that does it. You just cant make the hypocrisy up lol.
