For a few months now, Team Xbox has had Compulsion's South of Midnight lined up as its major first-party release for April 2025 - but Microsoft has now added a second game into the mix.

After launching in Steam Early Access last year, Towerborne from Xbox Game Studios now has a console release date. The upcoming title from Banner Saga studio Stoic launches for Xbox Series X|S on April 29th, 2025.

Despite this long wait since its Steam Early Access release, Towerborne still won't be the finished article next month. The game's console debut is a part of the Xbox Game Preview program, meaning it's still an early access title at this stage.

"It’s almost time – Towerborne arrives for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC via the Xbox app, and with Game Pass on April 29. Joining the Xbox Game Preview program ahead of its 1.0 launch, you’ll be able to help shape the future of this unique looter-brawler from Stoic (Banner Saga Trilogy).

Whether you’re joining for the first time or have been playing as part of Steam Early Access, there will be a lot of new features to enjoy – April 29 will also see the release of the game’s next major update – the Class Mastery Update – which includes huge changes to features across the game."

Of course, being a Microsoft first-party release, the Xbox & Windows versions will be available via Game Pass Ultimate next month - which is a nice way to jump into Stoic's "new kind of looter-brawler" this April.
