There's been so much debate over the past year about whether Xbox is right to put its first-party games on other platforms, but as we've seen with the likes of Sea Of Thieves and Grounded, it can definitely pay off with the right titles.
Looking at the "Pre-Orders" section on the PS5 store today, Xbox has three games in the top 10 (in the US) and five games in the top 12 if you count the special editions of Indiana Jones and Forza Horizon 5 as well.
As you'd expect for a newly-announced release, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is dominating the PS5 pre-orders as things stand, but Forza Horizon 5 isn't far behind - and even DOOM: The Dark Ages has snuck onto the list.
Here's a look at the pre-orders page on the US PlayStation store at the time of writing:

We covered earlier today how Xbox is apparently planning to bring "a lot more" games to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2025, and when you look at pre-order pages like these, it's not hard to see why that's the case.
There's still the argument that Xbox hardware and even the brand itself will suffer as a result of taking away so many Xbox exclusives, but from a monetary standpoint, these third-party ports will surely prove extremely profitable this year.
The more situations we see like this, the more likely it is that Halo, Gears and many others will follow...
What do you make of this? Are you buying any Xbox games on PS5? Tell us in the comments below.

I thought xbox has no games? And no one wanted them on Ps? Lol.
Confirmed. No xbox exclusives next gen. Most Older games will be ported at some point.
So keep the xbox series to play those early xbox one gems like Ryse.
P.S. imagine MS games sales on Switch 2 that reportedly will be powerful enough to handle games like Forza 5.

I have to laugh.
Game UK, now have pre-orders up for Xbox series x disc console. Release April.
Manufacturing and distribution is obviously now being very tightly controlled by Microsoft for the Xbox consoles.
Seems we are almost entering a make to order process with Xbox consoles.
@Dalamar73 Not saying DOOM ever was an exclusive! Just saying it's an Xbox first-party title that's in the top 10.
This is definitely proof it's good business for MS. But I'm not MS, time will tell if all this extra revenue will actually turn into more games being approved in different genres for gamepass...on future Xbox hardware. That's what I'm all about so hopefully that's what these sales turn into.
This is what happens when you buy multiple publishers. Two of those three games would've been released on PlayStation anyway.
@FraserG
Ah I see. My apologies.
Good stuff. They'll have a blast with Indiana and Forza, and we'll all have a blast once DOOM gets here. I can't wait for that!
I'm not bound to any consoles as I'm a PC player. So Microsoft strategy is sound considering Xbox as how big they're now. There's a really limited playerbase exclusively playing on Xbox consoles when the real market is much bigger. There's no point in keeping it exclusive when you can gain marketplace elsewhere. Those die hard console fans can rot in hell. Like their craziness is gonna feed the devs that work so hard only to be played by a meager playerbase.
Put this up against the hardware sales over the last 16 months and then let's talk about how justified it is. Side by side, let's see them.
I bet Sega sold more games on PS2 and Xbox than they did on Dreamcast, too.
@Dalamar73 All good
@Millionski
The more I hear of Switch 2 the less impressed I am. Remembering I’m a docked gamer on a 65” TV. With a series x and a PS5 Pro.
Considering FH5 looks spectacular runs console wise on a 12tflop series x and Switch 2 at best when docked is 3tflop. I fined the switch 2 for any series x games a total waste of time.
Switch 2 hopefully will get some amazing Nintendo big AAA games on release day. But I even doubting that now. And think it will be flooded on release with old Xbox one and PS4 games. Total waste of time.
Microsoft spent 100 billion dollars buying publishers and studios. This isn't an own. This is just showing how much more likely it is that they'll stop hardware altogether and only be a 3rd party publisher.
To see an Xbox site clap for that is very weird.
@Tonmoy Xbox devs get no more or less regardless of where their games are...lol
They get paid hourly like most jobs, clock in and clock out and move on.
@Dalamar73 They spent 100 billion dollars on publishers and studios.....now they're basically just a 3rd party publisher and don't seem to care about hardware at all.
@Jenkinss and Sega almost certainly makes more profit now than when they were trying to make consoles.
@Millionski
thought xbox has no games? And no one wanted them on Ps
You are jesting 😄, but that notion was dreamed up and then proceeded to reside rent free in the minds of PlayStation fanboys....Xbox always had games.
@OldGamer999 I am sure they are slowing the production of xboxes. They dont want to sell them anymore. Even these 3 new revisions. Sounds insane but thats what observation tells us.

It just makes sense and dollars. Why limit your games to 30+m users when you can get more from releasing everywhere. Hopefully with all the extra money, this means for us loyal users more games being developed, better perks, etc. Hopefully.
@Millionski
The crazy thing is when they do come in stock UK, they sell out within a week.
The interesting part is what they gonna do with game pass, as Xbox consoles have a very good attach rate.

@Dalamar73 anecdotal experience but see way more the oher way around. Maybe simply because ps fanbase is 3x more than xbox so there are more crazy fanboys on blue side mathematically lol
@Millionski
Yes that's fair. 😂
@OldGamer999 there were less than 5M xbox series sold in 2024 (based on vg charts).
This year they will sell way less.
Series s will be replaced by switch 2 for many - same games plus nintendo exclusives. For more power there are PC options and PS5 PRO.
During holidays base ps5 is also cheaper than SX.
And yeah you will be able to buy those in retail stores as they are not out of stock (at least for PS5 but heard nintendo is preparing for high demand and fight scalpers)
I actually not sure if series sx gen will even reach 40M by end of gen with such trending.

@armondo36 literally zero chance of that, they make a tiny fraction of what they made from 93 to 96. They're a blip comparatively. You can't be serious.
When you have a successful platform, you're taking in pure profit on every 3rd party game sold. It's a far different equation when a massive cut of your revenue is eaten by game dev.
Xbox is giving a great lesson in adapting to the realities of the market.
@Jenkinss The game, in essence, we share it, we don't keep it to ourselves, otherwise, where is the pleasure?
It's good that MS is finally getting a slice of money those titles deserve. It's a shame they had to go mutiplat to do it, but it was inevitable if you buy such big publishers and have shareholders to appease.
Someone in MS will care that they give Sony %30 for every sale, but ultimately if it gets the games a bigger audience and ensures that devs have jobs then it's a great thing.
Despite being on GP, some of these titles I will want on PS5, where the pro may give me less 60fps pop up on FH5 and my wife will actually play the titles - so it gives MS more of my money than I would spend on the series X alone.
I would hope most have made their peace with this now. I would have prefered Xbox had retained some of its identity via exclusives personally, but a 70 billion spend ensured that couldn't happen. C'est la vie.
@Titntin I dont think it was inevitable. They could double down on console, Xbox PC store and exclusives. Do not add confusing GP tiers and dont increase price. Over time their share would definitely grew if the only place to play Doom is xbox. I dont think it would be possible to surpass sony with consoles sold but they could 100% shorten the gap drammatically and be a solid player on the console market.
If you listen to what Spencer was saying early in the gen - thats basically was their plan (except opting to put games on steam but that was in 2016).
They just opted for easy way (multiplat) and decided they dont care about xbox consoles and the fanbase. Sure they will earn a lot of money at the expense of the console business and loyal xbox fans.
@OldGamer999 I missed your comment about switch 2. Yeah I agree if you play on docked mostly, switch is whatever. However, they will bring some of those nintendo exclusive AAA games and those would be 4k and maybe 60fps too. They just have not announced things yet but rumoured to have Zelda BOTW remaster (and I agree it deserves it, its not like days gone remaster lol), New mario 3d game and MK9. Thats honestly more than enough for me for several months.
@Millionski What you have described was certainly how I wish it had unfolded.
Back when everyone was pushing for the ABK deal, I often offered a warning opinion that if they spend 70 billion, then Xbox will no longer be able to call their own shots and will become subject to shareholder wishes. Given this was my fear if they completed the ABK buy out, I used the word 'inevitably' as the acquisition was completed.
I may indeed have a preference for the PS5, but that doesnt mean I don't wish to see Xbox doing its thing and retaining its identity. I don't want a homogenised world and I've worked with Xbox and have always had a lot of time for them. Sadly I genuinely see that identity slipping away to being little more than branding on PC's.
I know we don't always see things the same way, but in this case I do 100% agree with you - there was a path to strong healthy Xbox without the ABK acquisition, and that purchase has not brought much benefit to current players imo.
