The Sinking City has long been a popular game on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and ahead of the sequel's arrival at some point in the future, it's been announced today that The Sinking City Remastered is coming to Xbox.
This is an Unreal Engine 5 version of The Sinking City complete with loads of cool new visual features:
- Game fully relit in Unreal Engine 5
- Enhanced locations with additional levels of detail and objects
- 4K textures and improved reflections
- Addition of a Photo Mode
- Support for DLSS, FSR and TSR upscaling
It's been confirmed that The Sinking City Remastered will be a totally free upgrade for owners of The Sinking City on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, although it remains to be seen whether that applies to the original Xbox One version of the title or just the one that's called "The Sinking City Xbox Series X|S". Yeah... it's a bit confusing at this point!
Anyway, there's no release date yet for The Sinking City Remastered on Xbox or any other platform, but we'll keep you in the loop and let you know when one is revealed. In the meantime, here are some new comparison screenshots:
Originally released in June 2019 and developed on Unreal Engine 4, the upcoming remaster is being built in Unreal Engine 5 and promises an upgraded visual experience alongside some requested quality-of-life features.
The remaster will be available for free to all existing owners of The Sinking City on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

That's really cool! I have this one but haven't managed to play it yet.
I knew buying it last sale was a wise choice.
It is still on the backlog. I'll wait for this update. Terrific news after the fiasco with the publisher that screwed them over the first time around.
Awesome! I bought it on GOG and will welcome a UE5 version. Will probably wait to get back into it (as I am very early in the game) for this updated version.
Who doesn't like free stuff? Pretty cool they're doing this. With development costs these days it's nice to see stuff like this, I may even pick up a copy (feel like I impulse bought already) which is also good for their Marketing
Nice! I got it on sale awhile back and like many others it is sitting in the backlog… really welcome news!
The visuals are nice, but I had no idea this was that popular that it needed it...
