As you know, we like to keep an eye on the "Top Paid" Xbox charts to see how various games are faring on there, and there aren't many surprises when it comes to new releases right now - Assassin's Creed Shadows is top as expected.
One major surprise that did stand out to us was ASMR Slicing, which has managed to reach #36 in the UK above the likes of Hogwarts Legacy, NBA 2K25 and Two Point Museum, although it's further back in the US in the #153 position.

But yeah... this is crazy! ASMR Slicing is a literally a game about slicing various objects to produce satisfying sounds, and at a price of just £4.19 / $4.99, it's clearly enticed enough people to give it a try.
I can't say it's a game I'd be looking to play, but that's the whole point of the ID@Xbox program - its director mentioned just last week how bringing more games to Xbox fans would ensure a "diverse mix of content" for all kinds of players.
If you're keen on trying out ASMR Slicing, we'll throw more details about the game down below!
Choose your favorite cutting tool no matter if it's a playing card, flosser or just a simple kitchen knife. Just cut, cut, cut and experience those satisfying ASMR sounds! Slice a variety of colorful objects made of kinetic sand in the shapes of food, toys, buildings, everyday objects and ordinary cubes or blocks!
Need to raise the difficulty level a bit? Turn on the challenge mode! Cut off the right weight, divide an object into a given number of parts, cut an item perfectly in half, or find things hidden inside! Progress to unlock new mysterious objects and collect coins for completed levels to buy epic blades ranging from lightsabers and credit cards to axes and chainsaws!

I'm sure the slicing asmr is ok but them videos of people eating food are disgusting!
I have to say, I don't get this 'game'.
@Ricky-Spanish My wife watches them. The whispering to the cam then the eating, makes me rage.
@Kaloudz Yeah it's not nice I hate it my daughter used to watch them on YouTube but I had to put a stop to it thankfully it didn't last long ha ✌️
I don't get ASMR. It's all just annoying sounds to me. Why listen to random sounds when you could listen to a catchy little ditty instead?
"Slicing is a literally a game about slicing various objects to produce satisfying sounds"
ASMR for serial killers between "jobs"
Er.. yeah, okay! Not for me. I dozed off twice whilst watching it, and I only watched it for one minute and 22 seconds... 🤣
@Dalamar73 @Ricky-Spanish @Kaloudz Different horses, different courses I guess. We all like different things.
I really did think ASMR was a hoax for a long while - there's certainly a lot of bad ASMR out there. But after a spell where I slept really badly I was recommended ASMR to relax and now I do find it strangely relaxing. I can't quite explain it, it just does funny things to my brain, especially if I just lie down and cancel out other noise with headphones. I couldn't get on with guided meditation, which was also suggested, but ASMR helped me sleep well again.
Yet I can understand it grating some people, I was one of them before
@themightyant I know what you mean it just does depend on what type of amsr it is I just despise the eating ones!
And white noise is also good for getting to sleep my kids could only go asleep with it the first 4 or 5 of there lives ha ✌️
@Ricky-Spanish Never listened to an "eating one"... that sounds really gross tbh. Whispering, finger sounds (get your minds out of the gutter people. lol) and suchlike are oddly effective for my brain, putting me in a state of deep relaxation really quickly. I can't really explain it - and had you told me this a few years ago I frankly would have laughed - but it just works for me. White noise is OK but not quite as effective for me, ymmv.
Regardless I don't want an ASMR slicing game! lol
@Ricky-Spanish You can sort my wife's phone out mate and put a stop to it there for me 😅
@themightyant Ohhh mate. Whilst I'm glad you can find benefits from it that helps you (I truly mean that) I cannot stand it. The whole upclose camera on the mouth, the whispering, the crunching, the slapping. I hate it I hate it I hate it. Same as the wife watches (is it?) muckbang? Chinese foods being ate by the bucket load? Nope. Not for me 😭
That is a god awful sound, isn’t ASMR supposed to be soothing? I get that this game just isn’t for me, but usually I can at least see the appeal in games that aren’t.
@Kaloudz Oh God! I just watched a bit of a Mukbang video for the first time. Gross. Definitely not for me. Though I am now hungry and craving fast food. And I was amused by all the "watching during Ramadan" comments. Why would you do that to yourself. Self flagellation. lol.
To be honest I don't watch the ASMR videos, just close my eyes and listen. But I can see how some would hate it, as I said I did before. Yet it's an acquired taste, and i'm very selective, some voices or actions are a hard no... add Mukbang to that list... thanks mate! lmao
@themightyant Lol!! You're more than welcome champ. It's the stuff of nightmares. I've heard that (somewhere or other) it's believed to be a mental disorder 🤣 not even kidding. It's got a medical term and everything (not liking the sound of people eating loud).
@Kaloudz Yes it's called 'misophonia'. I used to work with someone who always complained about "noisy eaters" among other irritations that drove her crazy, she later found it was a full blown thing.
@themightyant That's the one!! See I have a completely deaf brother. He can't hear a thing (he was born totally deaf). Love him to pieces but dude, a lifetime of sitting next to him for Xmas dinner...
@themightyant
Not entirely sure why you felt the need to point out to me that "we all like different things". My comment was clearly in jest. In fact, it's bloody obvious!
I'm completely indifferent to ASMR.
@Dalamar73 My bad, I tagged the wrong person.
@themightyant
I did wonder! I thought "This dude must REALLY like ASMR". lol
