The ID@Xbox program has been an incredible way for Xbox fans to experience the latest and greatest indie games over the years, and it's got to a point now where countless titles are releasing as part of the initiative every month.
ID@Xbox director Guy Richards was questioned about this during a recent interview with Game Rant, where he advised that bringing "more games" to the platform is not only good for the brand, but also for the players.
Q: As you mentioned, there are tons of games released every day. How do you approach this sheer volume of games?
A: Great question. We believe that more games are the best thing for the platform and the best thing for players. We want every game to have a shot. ID@Xbox focuses on bringing a diverse range of new experiences to the platform. I think, whenever you look at any of the showcases that we've run and what we're doing, you'll see that come through games of different genres, from developers of different backgrounds, different art styles, and we really want that diverse mix of content to be part of the platform and the experience of players. There's a game for everyone on Xbox.
What's interesting about this is that it brings to mind the recent conversations surrounding store curation across Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, with Xbox being praised for putting "lots of effort" into this side of things.
However, if you look into some of the comments surrounding this story, there are definitely some Xbox fans who dislike the idea of putting "more games" on the platform - suggesting that some low-quality efforts have crept through:
It's true that the odd throwaway title does seem to squeeze through the cracks on Xbox, but for the most part we've been impressed with store curation over the past few years. A lot of that is thanks to the work of ID@Xbox team.
Nevertheless, this gives us a good opportunity to discuss the matter in the comments down below! Do you agree with the idea that "more games" are for the best on Xbox? What do you think of the Xbox Store's curation right now?
Come tell us your thoughts!

Quality>Quantity
More good games gives more good choice. So long as the trash stays low then players can get the choice they want.
As for me, time is so limited that I honestly don't have time to play outside of Game Pass, and there's more than enough to keep me happy there.
The trouble with such a large quantity being added daily is games get lost and too many good enough games fail to find an audience often leading to studios closing and people leaving the industry. They need better discoverability.
Additionally there are too many black hole games (Fortnite, COD, GTA, Genshin etc.) eating up players time, as does losing potential gamers to other forms of entertainment like TikTok and YouTube. Either way a lot of smaller games and devs are struggling.
Ideally i'd like to see the better ID@Xbox games get more than one day of press often all squeezed together, with the best will in the world I can't try 30 demos of games. Perhaps they could have an ID@Xbox game of the week or do deals to highlight one at a time or get more on Game Pass. Either way discoverability and how quickly they are lost in the store is a problem.

This.
The problem (as far as I'm concerned) isn't that there are too many games. The problem is that the best of the bunch are usually released with dozens of low hanging fruits. Every game deserves a shot but not every game deserves a highlight reel.
Some of (in fact most of) my best experiences since Xbox One have been indie games (Moonlighter, Stardew, Coral Island etc...).
It's great that they're are as indies are awesome n xbla was ace shame that ended hope they Keep going though although they could do with getting rid of some of the games seem to be a lot of low quality games or stuff youd see on mobile or something il scroll alot thinking who buys those 🤣
@Kaloudz I once got a game for less than a quid on sale thought bargain and it was literally like 30 seconds of metroid🤣 got a missile upgrade think killed an enemy n that was it lmao I felt ripped off even though I paid less than a quid ðŸ˜
@Decimateh Ohhhhhhh please tell me it at least had achievements 🤣
@Kaloudz nope ðŸ˜
I don't care for any A- or B-grade games. It's AAA and maybe some AA only.
Steam is the primary dump for slop, and that's why I don't want it on Xbox and am looking at PS6 instead.
It's like B-grade movies and tv, only super-fans/niche-players bother to deep dive to find/watch them
