Back at the start of the week, we were treated to an Xbox Game Pass shadow drop in the form of Balatro. That was only the start though - while the rest aren't Game Pass titles, they're definitely still worth discussing here at Pure Xbox!
So, three Xbox games that weren't on the calendar this week are Deadside, ACA2NEOGEO: The King of Fighters '98 and Biomorph. All three of these are available for Xbox Series X|S right now, but unfortunately not for Xbox One. KOF '98 has been on Xbox before, but this is a new version which adds in some additional features.
Deadside is probably the one that will get the most attention here - an open world survival shooter that's been on PC for multiple years, featuring both PvP and PvE gameplay. It was in early access until December of 2024, and now has suddenly popped up on Xbox - with a free trial available via its Xbox Store page if you're interested in trying it!
Let's not overlook The King of Fighters '98 and Biomorph though - we'll throw details about all three of these below:
Deadside - £20.99 / $24.99 (Free Trial Available)
"DEADSIDE blends your favorite Survival Shooter elements in a fast-paced open world where progression is swift and loot is plenty. Obtain valuable gear, and store it in a safe zone. Or build your own fortress in the wild, securing it with turrets, making it cozy while boosting your stats, and use it to store your vehicles and loot. Traverse the world by foot, car, motorcycle, boat, or a Quick Travel metro system. Make friends or enemies. Join PVP or PVE servers. Explore the vast open world filled with challenging events, and raid your enemies."
ACA2NEOGEO: THE KING OF FIGHTERS '98 - £7.49 / $9.99

"The "ACA2NEOGEO" series is developed with the concept of faithfully reproducing arcade game masterpieces. You can change various game settings such as the game's difficulty level, and even recreate the atmosphere of CRT TVs from back in the day. In addition to competing for scores in online rankings, you can also compete with players from all over the world to see how fast you can progress through the game in "Time Attack Mode." You can also enjoy simultaneous play in real time over the Internet in "Network Mode."
Biomorph - £16.74 / $19.99
"In BIOMORPH, players must use their skills to explore a vast, varied world. Solve puzzles and platforming challenges, fight deadly monsters and take their shapes to use their powers. But beware – every conquered creature can come back with new and even more threatening powers. Players will level-up their character as they fight through the vast areas around the city, collecting new abilities, mementos and chips. The journey will reveal surprising and alarming truths about our hero’s own origins."

I was surprised to see the aca neogeo game to pop up on the Australian store front considering we never got any of the other games here. Would be nice to see the metal slug games come up.
Thank you for pointing out the worthy games out there. With all that garbage coming out it is very hard to see the REAL games that are new. 2 versions of exactly the same “game” with 4 title updates to rack up your GS for 5€.
Nothing wrong with boosting your GA from time to time , I’ve had my share of easy GS titles too , but the invasion of those so called games is getting out of hand.
I used to browse the store and buy games that I did not know of but looked Allright , now I browse one small bit , see 20 out of 24 games that are utter crap and shut down the store. I just gave up.
Could Xbox please make another section where they clutter all this gaming diarrhea and keep the new games section a bit cleaner so people looking for actual games can find them ?
Deadside any good?
Deadside is far from ready to be released. That game is jank as hell.
Biomorph is EXCELLENT!!! Thank you for mentioning it
