The upcoming release date for Konami's Metal Gear Solid 3 remake has leaked online, via a trailer uploaded early to the PlayStation Network. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on August 28th across Xbox, PlayStation and PC - also now evident on the store page.
We haven't managed to lock eyes on the trailer ourselves yet, but we are seeing screenshots from the clip and the store page itself - confirming the late August release date. Here's evidence of that, shared by Wario64:
It's been quite a long road for Konami's MGS3 remake. After rumours of its existence as a potential PlayStation exclusive, Konami confirmed the game back in May 2023; thankfully as a fully multiplatform title. This feels like quite a long lead time for a remake, but we're seemingly very close to MGS3's Xbox release.
Of course, there is the fact that Metal Gear Solid has been pretty dormant now for some time. Besides Metal Gear Survive (which we don't talk about), we haven't seen a proper mainline release since 2015's Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. MGS fans - not long to go now!

It’s ok to talk about Metal Gear Survive, you know?
I’m expecting the Ape Escape mode to be Ps5 exclusive since Ape Escape is a Sony IP.
But we’ll see.
Fu**ing finally!
@somnambulance Indeed
I'm still not sold on this. I love MGS3, and kinda prefer the Big Boss Era to Solid Snake but I was hoping that as a remake they'd address the flaws of the original game (for example guards magically forget you exist if you leave the section.) that was due to the limitations of the hardware and removing things like the segmented map would allow for the game's greatness to shine for a new generation. This feels like a weird half-step.
This will be the first Meta Gear I've played properly since MGS2 (my first MGS experience). I quite enjoyed the game but that ending... O_o
Why so far out? Didn't they say they finished development last year?
@abe_hikura It's not a half-step, they already adressed what you say last year
"We did debate about this internally. “Maybe we should reskin the game into the current open-world type map? But after thinking about this, we would definitely have to basically remake the game from scratch, and by doing so it could alter other things about the game, and we decided that’s not the direction we really wanted to take.”
