It was back in July of last year that the Halo TV show was officially cancelled by Paramount+ after two seasons, and we've heard nothing about it since then - until it was spotted this week as suddenly coming to Netflix in the UK!
Yes, if you're a Netflix owner in the region, you'll notice that both seasons are set to join the service's library from March 1st. The same thing is happening in some other regions as well, but we've yet to verify the full list as things stand.
It's unknown whether the Netflix deal also means there are plans to revive the series, but we'd suggest it's unlikely at this point. Nevertheless, its arrival has sparked off plenty of debate about whether a third season is a good idea or not:
This_Is_Sierra_117 on Reddit: "I am not optimistic, but I would love to see a third Season! Season 2 improved profoundly upon the first. The new showrunner did a good job of taking and respecting the narratives/characters of Season 1, moving them in new directions, and ultimately getting us (by the finale) to be ready for a more "faithful" iteration of Halo: CE in Season 3.
I think Pablo nailed it as Chief, especially in Season 2. The Flood was very well done. Action was epic. Ackerson was a welcome addition, as was Perez. Some rather emotional and intriguing plot beats. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Season 2."
JSA343 on Reddit: "They specifically set the show in an alternate timeline so they didn't have to bother with properly adapting the story, they just made what they felt like and changed what they felt like, sometimes using source material as inspiration, sometimes using it to go exactly the opposite direction.
Can that approach work, maybe. But a lot of people don't think it did. It'd have been better off just being its own sci-fi show instead of attaching itself to Halo so they can subsequently ignore or intentionally contradict the source material."
As we say, it's best not to get your hopes up over a potential third season - there's every chance this is just Netflix picking up the distribution rights for a decent price. It's a big jump going from that to greenlighting a season three!
There's no telling what's on the horizon though... so would you want to see it? We'd love to hear your thoughts below.

They should get prime to do a halo series if anything I taught fallout would never work and would be stupid as a tv series but I loved the fallout prime series was great can't wait for season 2 đź‘Ź
Actually, there's a good chance there is a third season, because both 343 Industries and Amblin stated that they were actively looking for a new partner for a third season. I'd love it because I loved the TV series more than I thought I would.
Fun fact: I subscribed to Sky Showtime just to watch this and the Indiana Jones films. On there, the series was not listed anywhere except if you search for it, because they decided not to renew it. On Amazon Prime, where you can add other providers, it was listed on Popular on Sky Showtime. My guess after reading a few articles and interviews is that it was successful, but the number of subscribers of Paramount is relatively low for such a high budget.
@Ricky-Spanish Totally agree. I also think it would be neat to have Halo lean more heavily towards a horror-tinge via a spin off based on ODST. Something less "check out this unbeatable space-marine" and something more vulnerable. Nonetheless though, no show is going to top the recently announced Buffy sequel series. I loved the OG that much, I'll love the follow on no matter how bad it is lol.
No 3rd season. Just the 2 seasons, 1 for each bum cheek.
I really enjoyed the show for what it was. A third season would definitely be a watch for me.
I'd really really like to buy the series on Xbox. Would just feel right.
Maybe they can finish this fight? I would be happy to see it continue

I was extremely disappointed in the cancellation of halo. Enough to cancel paramount plus.
While having star trek is nice, halo was new and the action solid.
Netflix shows not named stranger things kinda stink though, so im not sure its a place id want the series to be.
Xbox making mediocre decisions with its company and film smh 🤦‍♂️ such rich ip but it’s handled poorly
Season 1 was boring, but I enjoyed season 2. (I think only Halsey is good)
I was concerned that many of the added characters were unappealing.
in my opinion they got the Halo tv show all wrong.
@Banjo- I wouldn’t say that there a good chance since when they said that… 343i was 343i. They are no longer 343i, and studio plans have probably vastly changed since then.
Season 2 ruled. It's too bad season 1 was so bad that almost no one came back to see it.
@Jenkinss That describes me. After watching the TV show I had to play all of the games again just to forget about the TV show.
