We've heard before how the movie star (and former WWE star) Dave Bautista would be really keen to feature in a Gears of War film or TV project, and now he's calling on fans to "start an online thing" and find a way to make it happen.
Speaking to ComicBook recently, Bautista explained that he's been trying to press Netflix on the idea for a while without success, and therefore he needs help from the internet! Here's exactly what he had to say to the outlet:
"Hey, start an online thing about freaking Gears of War. Like, come on Netflix! Come on already. It's not like I'm not badgering them. Gotta start a petition. Come on, Netflix. Get it together."
As you may recall, Bautista was added to Gears 5 on Xbox and PC a few years ago and proved a popular addition, and in general the fanbase seems very keen for him to lead a Netflix project if it were to happen.
Don't forget that Gears of War: E-Day is probably around a year out from release as well, so timing its launch with a Netflix series could work out extremely well for Netflix, Xbox Game Studios and The Coalition. Makes sense to us!
Would you want to see Dave Bautista leading a Gears of War film or TV series on Netflix? Tell us below.

I have a hard time believing they would do a good job with that.
If we have to sign a petition to get it made then it definitely won't be good unfortunately!
They should really just concentrate on getting the games out that's all!
Ah yes. Netflix and video games adaptations. What could possibly go wrong?
“Don't forget that Gears of War: E-Day is probably around a year out from release as well, so timing its launch with a Netflix series could work out extremely well…”
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but there’s no way a Netflix show that hasn’t been greenlit yet would be ready be ready in time.
Man, the amount of special effects would be insane for a series based on GoW. I imagine they'd rather go anime.
Dave Bautista is urging people to start a petition for Netflix to pull its finger out. Sorry, but if a Gears of War film/series is at that point in production right now, then it's probably not going to be done soon enough to time it with E-Day. And if it is done in time, it definitely won't be good.
@Kaloudz Agreed. It's like Horizon or some other franchises that would cost so much to do well i'd rather they did animation or a film, else it's likely to look cheap.
@themightyant Yeah totally. Fallout was amazing but a lot of that was sand and bunkers. Nothing mad max didn't do decades ago. GoW would cost a ton. Surely.
Not netflix tho! Anyone else.
Dave Bautista, you ain’t getting no gears movie.
And that’s the bottom line, coz stone cold said so!!!
@BacklogBrad @krzysztof81 Most of Netflix game adaptations have been A+… I see no reason to not pick them over anyone else?
I don't hate on Bautista. But....
This whole thing (like article says in round about way) is just Bautista being incredibly self serving. That's it.
He's getting older. And he wants to play Marcus, really, really, really, bad. Time is ticking. He knows it. So he's pushing like a mad man now.
@BacklogBrad Would you prefer Disney? It would be pile of woke.
76 year old Grace Jones probably play Marcus.
@GuyinPA75 He would have been a good Marcus if they did a movie during his WWE days. Unfortunately now he lost alot of his muscle mass, which granted he did purposely but not only that his age may be a factor. Unless they do some CGI stuff to him.
@Tasuki Yea thought that was weird he lost lot his mass. Supposedly his reasoning to play more dramatic roles to extend his acting career.
Which I can understand. Most his acting career is Drax or James Bond villain henchman roles. Not many options for him.
@GuyinPA75 Yeah I can see where he's coming from. One of the worst things for an actor is to typecasted.
