Xbox's Big 'Surprise' For Developer Direct Is Reportedly A Legendary Japanese IP

We're just over a week away from the Xbox Developer Direct event for 2025, and speculation has been rife ever since it was announced about what the surprise game might be in the show. Well, apparently we now have some hints!

Windows Central is reporting today that the surprise game is expected to be "a new entry in a legendary Japanese IP which has decades of history". It's said that the reveal should make a lot of fans happy in the process!

"There's also a mysterious fourth game, and I won't spoil what it is, but our sources indicate that it is a new entry in a legendary Japanese IP which has decades of history, and should make a lot of fans happy."

There's now even more speculation floating around about what this game might be, with predictions including things like Resident Evil, Ninja Gaiden, Persona and a whole lot more. Ultimately, there are a lot of possibilities here!

The only official line from Xbox is that it's a "brand new game" being shown at a "special location" - and the most likely scenario is that we won't hear anything else until it appears at the event itself. Of course, there's every chance more rumours could crop up over the next few days, but here's hoping the surprise doesn't get spoiled entirely.
