Our second Xbox Game Pass drop of 2025 is now available, with Digixart's story-driven adventure Road 96 now available on Microsoft's subscription service.
When this one first came to Xbox a few years back, we reviewed it and fell in love with the experience. It's got tons of character, unique and attractive visuals, and a storyline that pulls you in through journey's end. We can wholeheartedly recommend it!
And in case you're not fully convinced just yet, here's an official introduction to Road 96 on Xbox Game Pass:
Road 96 (Console, PC, Cloud)
"Road 96 is a crazy, beautiful road-trip. The discovery of exciting places, and unusual people on your own personal journey to freedom. An ever-evolving story-driven adventure inspired by Tarantino, The Coen Brothers, and Bong Joon-ho. Made by the award-winning creators of Valiant Hearts and Memories Retold.
Moments of action, exploration, contemplative melancholy, human encounters and wacky situations. Set against a backdrop of authoritarian rule and oppression. A stunning visual style, a soundtrack filled with 90s hits, and a thousand routes through the game combine so each player can create their own unique stories on Road 96."

Sound very good has anyone played it?
Hoping for some good news today with new gamepass games being announced because as things stand January is looking awfully light and this plus carrion returning to gamepass is really not noteworthy.
@Ricky-Spanish I did the first time it was on GP.
I really enjoyed the story, you control different people attempting to escape a dictatorial government. Every time you fail you restart with a different person but the story advances and the decisions you made before continue to have impact. I would define it as a roguelike walking simulator lol
@Foxx_64740 Thanks mate I'll give it a download sounds like my type of game especially if there's 90s music in it!
I may give this a whirl as I'm between games right now after finishing off Indiana Jones over the New Year.
@Ricky-Spanish Yeh, did play it too. I think it's decent, wasn't excellent, but it's nice and short. The story was interesting with some reasonably charismatic characters. The other good fella described it quite nicely, the problem with its system is that there are portions that can get a bit repetitive and you might miss interesting stuff (or character background) in a single playthorugh since there isn't a "try again" kind of thing; that's good and bad in some ways.
Sounds like you're into this type of game, so I think it's worth you give it a try.
@Stamnoso Thanks for the info mate 👍 definitely sounds like it's worth a go to me.
Wasn’t this already on game pass?
That said, I still haven’t played it and would like to… I’m way behind on everything yet replaying baldurs gate 3 instead…
