It was all the way back at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2022 that Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced as a day one Xbox Game Pass release, and to be honest, we've barely heard anything about the game ever since!
Last year was pretty much radio silence aside from the Xbox Store page going live in April, and the year before that was when the game got officially delayed from its planned release in early 2023 to essentially some point in the future.
It's fair to say there's concern surrounding the game at this point, then - and this prompted an unlikely reply from Team Cherry's Matthew Griffin a couple of days ago, who confirmed that progress is still being made on the title in 2025:
Unfortunately that's all we're getting for now, and clearly something went a bit awry behind the scenes to cause such a lengthy multi-year delay. We're still holding out hope that it'll be an incredible sequel when it finally arrives though!
And of course, the Xbox Game Pass part of the equation remains extremely exciting for Xbox fans, with nothing appearing to have changed in that department - the Xbox Store is still advertising it as a day one Xbox Game Pass release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. That's going to be a mighty addition when it arrives!
Who knows how long we'll be waiting, but let's hope Hollow Knight makes an appearance in 2025...

Just let Team Cherry cook. It will be ready when it's ready. Must be super annoying to have the internet go crazy every time you dare breathe... or change a profile picture on your personal Twitter.
2 and a half years ago it was said to be within 6 months of releasing. What happened?
@BacklogBrad They were going to make it a live service game but decided that was silly…. 😜
