Developer Rebellion has today dropped a gameplay overview of its upcoming survival title Atomfall, which makes its way onto Xbox Game Pass this March. We're getting Fallout, We Happy Few and of course Sniper Elite vibes from this one; the latter being Rebellion's most well-known IP to date.
Despite the loose gameplay links to its historical FPS franchise, Atomfall looks and sounds like quite a departure for the British studio. First off, it's very fictional, even if the idea initially sprung from the real-life Windscale Disaster of 1957.
"In this official gameplay trailer, we unveil the dangers and mysteries awaiting you in our gripping new single-player survival action game, Atomfall. Atomfall is inspired by the real-life events of the 1957 Windscale disaster and the story picks up five years later in a fictionalised quarantine zone that encompasses rolling countryside, valleys, caves and even a picturesque English village."
Of course, the team is taking lots of liberties with what happened in that five-year stretch after the disaster, introducing a "host of eccentric characters and cryptic organisations that inhabit the quarantine zone". We're on board for this one though - it's all looking rather splendid and we can't wait to explore this strange slice of British countryside in just a few short months.
That's right, we don't long to wait for Atomfall's arrival at all. This Xbox Game Pass "single-player survival action game" heads to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on March 27th, 2025.
