Ever since Microsoft acquired Activison Blizzard last year, we've periodically seen classic titles from the company's back catalogue receiving new PC versions - usually followed by their Xbox Game Pass arrivals at some point later on.
This week, three classic Call of Duty titles have suddenly received new PC versions on the Microsoft Store, and these are Call of Duty 1 (plus the Global Offensive expansion pack), Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Before you get too excited, there's no guarantee we'll see these games on Xbox Game Pass before the end of the year - or even before the midway point of next year. The Spyro Reignited Trilogy received a Microsoft Store PC release in April, for example, but it took until November for it to hit Xbox Game Pass. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 received a new PC release in June, but it still hasn't arrived on Game Pass six months later. Ultimately, it's hard to predict a concrete date.
This news almost certainly means that Microsoft is planning a classic Call of Duty drop for 2025 though, perhaps including even more than just these three titles. We expect these will prove very popular when they finally land!

Hopefully it happens would be fun to have a proper game of multiplayer in one of the 360 cod games again
This might be a reach for Activision standards (and a lot of copium on my behalf), but it would be cool if the Season Passes became free as well so that there is no player splitting in Multiplayer. A few months ago they made the Map pack for COD 4 free for everyone, so who knows...
I'd love them to make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) Remastered as it's a little annoying that they made the first two and not the third. Let us finish the story in style.
There are many people asking why Microsoft hasn't added ABK games to Game Pass. One of the reasons is this. The other must be the schedule. It was the same with Crash and Spyro. They are doing it. 😁
Them including United Offensive has me really happy, I hated how they didn't add it into CoD: Classic.
Xbox and Activision are going to use their marketing budget on some vintages for TGA, perhaps.
Definitely want to play the classic campaigns. I've only ever finished MW I, II, III, and BO 1. I don't know how it will feel to get into MP again after BO 6, though. May feel way too dated.
Call of Duty 2 blew me away at the time. One of my favorite experiences on 360. Loved that game.
In my opinion the original MW was never bettered, so I'd be very up for jumping in, hopefully it would see an uptick in users
I just bought a copy of World at War last weekend so of course NOW is when they finally start to put the old games on Game Pass 😫
Never played CoD before Modern Warfare (the original one). I’d gladly give those a go.
I still have some of the older CoD games on disc, but happy to see them come to Gamepass. Just wish they could give them a resolution boost also.
The ones I really want to drop on GP are Black Ops III, Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare 2 remastered, Modern Warfare (2019) and Modern Warfare 2 (2022).
@Philly and by the time they did that the game was dead. they really botched COD4 (and MW2: R)
I’d love for the older classic CODs to get brought onto Game Pass. Like others here have already said, Let’s hope it can breathe new life into them again.

I would play the COD 2 campaign again for sure. That game blew me away when it came out.
