We've finally reached the holiday season and according to a story over on The Verge, Microsoft has internally released a new sweater. It's not just any sweater though, it's apparently a "Xbox 360 glitch holiday sweater".
This one features what's described as an "interchangeable module" that can produce the infamous 'Red Ring of Death'. It's apparently gone on sale exclusively to Microsoft employees "right now", and it's believed to almost be sold out. Here's what it looks like:
If you're somehow not familiar with the 'Red Ring of Death' it was a serious hardware issue during the Xbox 360 generation that was known to brick consoles. According to the 2021 documentary 'Power On: The Story of Xbox', this issue resulted in Microsoft forking out 1.15 billion on free repairs for every system.
Although it wasn't a great time for the brand, Microsoft, as you can see, is still open to making a joke about it.
Would you be interested in a sweater like this if Microsoft released it to the public? Did you ever get the 'Red Ring of Death'? Let us know in the comments.

Yes! OMG Take my money! π
There are people out there that would burn money for the sake of seeing it burn.....this is the perfect example of it.
Nothing to be proud off
The greatest console of all time for me. But that was an annoying issue to say the least. Funny shirt but i will stick to my Miller Lite ugly Christmas sweater.
Thatβs pretty cool. I never had the RROD but I did have the less common but equally fatal graphic error thing. I remember thinking that they must have launched the cheap βArcadeβ version of the 360 purely so that people could buy one to have something to play on while their regular 360 was getting fixed.
Wasn't great for MS this. The RROD on my 360 made me replace it with a PS3 then buy a PS4, PSVR, PS5 and PSVR2. Now I'm ingrained into the Sony ecosystem for life. I bought myself a Series X this gen only for the HDMI port to break after a few months. As I have free GP ultimate with my phone subscription I bought a Series S, however too many burns means it will probably be my last Xbox whatever they make next. Proper shame as I loved my 360
I love a good ugly Xmas sweater. But RROD doesnβt yell Xmas to me.
But Iβm all for owning your history (as they did) and bringing back RROD like this
Fun idea but looks horrendous
@themightyant should have had a few bells dangling off the ring or make the Xbox logo a Xmas tree shape or something
joke about itβs flaws all you want M$ , but you still created the greatest console of all time! π€ π π€
Itβs awesome that MS can actually take something that was REALLY bad for them at the time and now find a bit of humor in it. I respect them for that. Love it when a company owns their past boo-boos like this.
These need to go on general sale to the public.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Yeah it looks like a pretty bad photoshop as is, or as is someone made they own fancy dress really badly. The ring and the jumper just don't match.
Lol, I bought a second 360 because of that and both consoles are still working to this day! Never saw a ring of death (touches wood) π
I too appreciate the joke of a billion dollar problem. I felt taken care of by MS back then despite getting two red rings. Now I just have joy cons and Xbox controllers with horrendous drift. Feel like a fed ring ornament or tree topper would be money
