Update []: The 60FPS update for Assassin's Creed Syndicate is now available on Xbox Series X and Series S! There's also a new trailer to accompany the launch, which we've added at the top of this article.
Original Story: Yes, it's finally happening! Ubisoft has announced today that Assassin's Creed Syndicate will be getting a boost to 60 frames per-second for free on Tuesday, November 19th, and it'll be available for both Xbox Series X and Series S.
The update will be a whopping 31GB on Xbox (compared to less than 1GB on PS5!), and will bring the Series X version up to 4K, 60FPS and the Series S version up to 1080, 60FPS. Here's what Ubisoft had to say about it today:
"Revisit the Assassin fantasy and take down your enemies more smoothly than ever on Assassin's Creed Syndicate's free 60 FPS patch. Roam London's streets in a whole new light and elevate your gaming experience with doubled framerate on Xbox Series X|S, PS5® and PS5® Pro."
"In addition, take a leap into a visually stunning experience thanks to 4K resolution on Xbox Series X, PS5® and PS5® Pro."
By the way, this isn't a return of Xbox's FPS Boost program or anything - it's separate to that. Ubisoft has created this update and is pushing out the 60FPS improvement on their end. It's also obviously not applicable to Xbox One users.
If you haven't played Assassin's Creed Syndicate and now you're eager to check it out, the good news is that it's discounted by 75% in the Xbox Black Friday Sale 2024, bringing it down to just £7.49 / $8.99 as things stand.
Looking forward to playing AC Syndicate at 60fps on Xbox consoles? Tell us in the comments down below.

There’s still hope for Ghost recon Wildlands 🤞
I guess it'll download want it or not?
This, also black flag, they are no brainer updates
@Lup you can turn auto-update off and enjoy the currently installed version.
Started this a few days ago and was surprised how much I noticed the 30fps! So looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. Just tidied up the SSD as well so the size is fine at the moment.
How about the same deal for Unity please Ubi? I know its 60fps on Xbox but its still 30fps on PS5 with a ugly 900p res.
@Scirius Honestly just do it for all the AC games on PS4/5 and Series S/X.
@DennisReynolds they already are on xbox, I think only syndicate and black flag were left without fps boost
@Nightcrawler71 I’m not sure Wildlands could run 60fps at it’s current resolution. Breakpoint’s 60fps mode is much blurrier (like 1080-1440p) than Wildlands 30fps mode. But yeah I would love that - one of my all-time favorites.
10th anniversary of Far Cry 4 today. Can we get a resolution bump for FC4 and Primal?
@Scrubchub
I’m a total 60fps snob, I just can’t go back to 30fps so blurry and not that smooth when you pan the camera around.
Seems terrible compared to 60fps.
Was wondering if we'd see a boost. Playing through it atm, might hold off until tomorrow and carry on.
Saying that, playing at 30fps is a little slow but I got used to it quick.
This fantastic news! It used to be much worse on XBOX than PS. Low quality textures and low target resolution. It is pretty shocking to me that they pushed this update this late in the game but I am very glad.
The game update sizes on PS5 and XBOX should provide a hint on how big the difference was: PS5 0.75GB. XBOX Series 31.8GB
That being said, I am little curious if it can hold 60fps cleanly. If I remember right, I was getting about 70-80fps on Ryzen 5800/RTX 3080. Of course, that was with everything maxed out. They may have different settings on console.
@Scirius I would love to see a Black Flag update but I am willing to bet they won't do it since they are working on a remake.
That being said, if they do, I would be glad to be wrong on this one.
It’s staggering really that games released in 2015 can now only run at Full Native 4K 60fps
9 years later on.
Even if went back to Series x release 2020.
That’s still 5 years later on since the games released.
Not sure if that’s shows how weak hardware was back in 2015 or how not much progress really has been made in 5 years.
@OldGamer999 It is also because the game was pushing the bounds of what those consoles could handle at the time.
On the original XBOX One, it was running at 900P/30 and couldn't hold 30 fps consistently. So if it can run at 4K/60 after 5 years, that seems pretty fair. Isn't that like 10x the amount pixels you need to push to make up that difference?
This is so strange I just started playing this game again last week wishing it ran at 60. That download size is insane though.
@evan23
That is true wow 900p at 30fps.
Do you know what the Xbox one x run it resolution and fps wise.
Guess also with the series s only 1080p and 60fps shows the power of the series x.
Might buy it for the £7.49.
Patiently waiting Stalker 2 reviews for series x.
@OldGamer999 The One X never got an upgrade for this game. Only the PS4 Pro did.
That is one of the reasons this is such a great update for XBOX Series Owner's. It is a huge bump.
It's great that FPS Boost keeps delivering. That and Quick Resume are the best things of this whole generation. Besides, now all Assassin's Creed games run at 60fps on Series X except Black Flag, but I think that they're remaking it.
Put a fair few hours into Syndicate on my PS4 Pro a few years back. Loved the Victorian vibe. Not sure I could start again on my SXS for the sake of 60FPS, but it’s certainly one to add to the ever-growing backlog.
Like others have said already, would love a Black Flag 60FPS remaster or remake.
@evan23
Just had a play session on FH4 on series x
Full Native 4K 60fps.
Looks absolutely amazing especially on my very new TV a Sony A95L 65” the first ever TV to
run correctly at 120hz forced in console settings with VRR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, no strings no holding it back, gaming heaven using ever feature of the series x.
You can’t get better than that so sharp, smooth and pop those colours.
Forget this upscaling stuff you will never beat native 4K done correctly.
@Banjo-
Everyone needs to game like this.

I’ve only ever played a few of these AC games, I don’t recall which. I remember enjoying the main parts, the historical recreation stuff, but thinking that mumbo jumbo animus crap was such a stupid gaff bolted onto something that deserved better. I wish these games were only ever set in the historical past and they did away with that present day stuff feebly trying to tie it all together.
Well done Ubisoft 👏
Bah, we just finished 100%-ing Syndicate and the Jack the Ripper DLC a few months ago!
Nice, this is one of the few AC games I haven’t played yet, so I’m very happy about this 🙂
If you download it today do you get the update or do you have to find it? I downloaded it onto my storage but it was the old version
Edit: I don't think the update has been pushed yet.
We need the same treatment with.. Far cry blood dragon !!
That's a real good game with a nice 80ies vibe !!!!
@OldGamer999 Besides, a lower native resolution is better than AI upscaling. We have seen how Sony's pretentious PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (machine learning) is mediocre at best. It's a shame because PS5 Pro has the same CPU, a GPU upgrade and was marketed upon improving existing games, therefore becoming the most overpriced and unnecessary console upgrade ever.
