This week marks the arrival of BioWare's new game Dragon Age: The Veilguard and as part of the game's launch, the developer has sent out a message via social media to all of its fans, thanking everyone for making this moment possible.
You can read the entire thing in the post below, but in general, BioWare highlights how this game is apparently filled with "characters you love in stories worth telling".
Game director Corinne Busche mentions how this particular entry is the "culmination of the dev team's love for the franchise" and creative director John Epler described it as "the most incredible project" of his seventeen-year career.
Here on Pure Xbox our reviewer PJ O'Reilly thought Dragon Age: The Veilguard was "excellent" awarding it nine out of ten stars. The aggregate review score for this new release is currently in the 80s.
Will you be revisiting Dragon Age this week on Xbox? Let us know in the comments.

Good to see Bioware back at the top of their game, and wonderful to see this well deserved success ❤️
@LadyCharlie
Getting slaughtered by reviews from players on non-gaming websites. Based on the gameplay, tone and story, it resembles nothing like the previous entries.
Sorry but this obvious butt kissy tweet isn't going to win me over. This new entry lacks what was good about the old ones. The Mass Effect Andromeda of Dragon Age games.
Anyone who has actually played the game, is it true they have stripped back the RPG elements of the game and there's no real exploration?
There’s such a toxic cloud following this game around, it’s virtually impossible to discuss without having to filter out so many bad faith views on both sides from people who haven’t even played the game. I haven’t seen brigading on this scale in a while. It’s exhausting.
I look forward to giving this a go in due course and deciding for myself. Maybe I’ll like it, maybe I won’t. Though that’s no time soon as I haven’t got around to the Inquisition DLC yet and have a lot to play first.
@StaminanX every successive Bioware and Bethesda game strips back and simplifies the RPG elements sadly, this game is likely the same. Look at something like Mass Effect 2 which was brilliant but dumbed down RPG elements, same for Skyrim vs Oblivion and Morrowind. Despite this they were brilliant games.
@themightyant yeah it’s strange how ‘gamers’ latch onto something and berate it and so forth. Before long all their outrage will be moved onto another game…
@themightyant Hey that is fair enough. When you put it like that it doesn't make it sound so bad seen as though they were all awesome games hehe..
I'm enjoying my time with the game so far, I don't need to worry how well the game is doing for some confirmation bias thing.
Time will tell. I'm extremely worried about Mass Effect next iteration.... I personally think it's not the correct way to force people to listen like this at your ideas (wokism..). It's even worse when you create products for teenagers.
@StaminanX Its a bit lighter but definetly still there, I wouldnt called it stripped ,thats tooharsh imo. I am having a blast with the game so far. I was sceptic to the art style but now that Im actually playing I think it looks great. The mood is also real nice.
@themightyant I feel like that literally goes for any game these days. So I stopped listening and instead just buy whatever I find interesting. I only skip games if they have technical issues.
I really want to get in on this game, but I know my ADHD has trouble with games with a lot of cut scenes and dialog. It looks great, and it's nice to see so many people enjoying it and ignoring the toxicity. I will live vicariously on this one.
@JoyfulFire I have the same circumstances. You won't have an issue here. Everything is chopped into short term experiences, levels are small, dialogue scenes are short, combat is Spam A, Dragon Age 2 style. An hour is more than enough time for a level or two. The pacing is very rapid.
@Xbox_Dashboard Thanks! Ahh, I might have to press the trigger on getting this then. I don't think I can resist much longer!
@JoyfulFire Enjoy! I'm 6 hours in. Took 3 breaks for Rocket League, dinner and dishes. It almost feels too fast? But I recall Dragon Age 2 had a very similar structure.
Played the 1st chapter last night. This is my first Dragon Age. I love what I have seen so far and am hooked.
@themightyant honestly, dialling down the RPG elements was probably a good move in the current gaming market. If they'd gone for something more traditional they'd have had to deal with endless unfavorable comparisons to Baldur's Gate 3. It has, at the very least, been allowed to be it's own thing for better and for worse.
Just bought this now and it's downloading.
I trust PJ and his review was heartfelt and I'm very likely to agree with it.
Even if I don't, I so fed up with people looking for the latest witch hunt to tag onto I'd buy it just to oppose them! Maybe not, but I certainly won't let a bunch of shouty anti-wokers put me off anything - they can all go to hell, hehe.
Somehow all the people who are enjoying it are 'shills' or been 'bought off' or whatever other nonsense these idiots wish to spread. God forbid anyone might enjoy a game they don't even want to try...
I've played about 3 hours so far the combat is better then I could have hoped for. We'll see how the story shakes out. I am trying to like the game over all but right now it feels tedious to me without a pay off.
Can anyone explain to me why some reviews are giving this 10/10 and others like skill up don’t recommend it?
I haven’t played one before and im tempted but slightly confused
@Hurblyburbly I don't know anything about skill up and other people's agenda. I as a lover of the other three games story will give you where I'm at.
1 was just incredible 2 I didn't care for the gameplay loop but the story was great 3 I felt was more like 1 and the gameplay was great again.
For me all three had great stories and were very interesting.
the things I was worried about in this one have been proven pretty much unfounded. they changed to a more action combat like 2 and you lost some second to second control of your companions. they also changed the art style.
The combat is actually great and you can tell your companions what to do and they have skill trees like you that you can lvl and chose from I'm really liking both these things.
the art direction change seems fine I have no opinion on it one way or the other but I used to play packman. I think some other shots were taken about the writing and some of the alternative lifestyle stuff too. While I don't care for that stuff personally it's always been in bioware games so it should probably be expected.
all that said so far it's a good game to me I made an earlier comment about it being tedious but I was under the weather yesterday and its feeling pretty good to me right now the story is starting to take off and it's been good so far
sorry for such a long post.
@BIG3 to an extent you are right, but this game seems to have stirred up the hornets nest more than most. It’s sad we can’t just enjoy games without commenters sticking their politics in everywhere… which ironically is exactly one of their complaints, yet they do it anyway. Two-faced.
@themightyant this...... on the political spectrum I don't agree with support some things but it doesn't effect me enjoying the game. so far it's been really fun the combat my biggest worry has been terrific. knocking q guy of a cliff is always a good time and if you haven't yet here's a hint do it it's rewarding..
@Doomcrow People who are actually playing the game, as opposed to ranting about it online, have high praise for it. So 🤷♀️
@Savage_Joe Yeah there is a lot of really weird stuff going on with this game. You can tell they have been working overtime trying to manipulate the public and their feedback when it comes to this game. It's all so odd for a video game.
@VisitingComet1
Cheers for your comment mate. Appreciated
I think I’ll give it a go at some point.
