Microsoft has detailed a new Xbox Insider update that aims to improve the way its consoles pull patches when connected online. The update, which is out now and will roll out to all users soon, "addresses an issue where checking for updates would take much longer than expected or would not load at all".
Basically, if you've ever struggled to get your console to find and pull a game update, this should be a much smoother process once this new patch is applied. Here's an example of the system buffering when trying to pull updates - which does happen to us from time to time:
Sometimes, our Xbox consoles don't find updates until you load that specific game up either - and in general we're hoping that the 'Manage Updates' area will be more reliable once this fix is out there in the wild. The Xbox Insider patch is currently available to Alpha Skip-Ahead users, so expect it to roll out to all Xbox players in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere, the new patch also "addresses unexpected errors that could occur when updating some entertainment apps, such as Dolby Access", so if you've experienced similar issues on your end, those should also be sorted out shortly!
