Well, we didn't expect to see this in our inboxes today!
Southern Comfort has announced the world's "first ever adult gaming accessory" for the Xbox Series X, and it takes the form of a clip-on device that literally stores and dispenses shots of the company's new SoCo Sour 50ml drink.
What's crazy about this is that it's not just a giveaway - you can actually buy it if you want to! The "Southern Comfort SoConsole" will be available for $50 beginning this Friday, October 25th at 10am ET via the Sazerac House website.
Here's a bit more about it:
"The SoConsole is the only gaming console cover in the world that can store and dispense shooters of the new SoCo Sour 50ml straight to gamers age 21+ IRL. This innovative device is part gaming accessory, part celebration (or commiseration) tool, offering fans an epic way to upgrade their gaming experience.
Engineered for adult gamers who crave excitement and the latest in tech disruption, the SoConsole seamlessly integrates exclusively with the Xbox Series X. This innovative console shell allows players to “order” a 50ml shooter from the SoConsole via the click of a remote."
There's actually a list of instructions to go with this thing as well, which reveals there are three slots where SoCo Sour Shooters can be inserted, and you can either press the button on the device or the included remote to dispense one. The downside is that you don't get any included alcohol with your $50 purchase!
If you're interested, keep in mind this is a US-only accessory for now, and you'll need to be 21+ to buy one. It's also only going to be available in limited numbers (at least via the website mentioned above), so don't wait around too long.
What are your thoughts about this?! Let us know down in the comments section below.

Im just going to ask why?
It looks awful. The series x (and S) look nice and compact and neat on the shelf. And this is gaudy. - not to mention potential of spills etc
In its defence I will give it that it’s pretty cool you can dispense it with a remote.
My god that thing is stupid and horrible and I'm an alcoholic 🤮
Nothing says delicious like sour shots heated by your console. The idea makes me kind of nauseous.
Novel idea I suppose, alcoholics gaming in style. (I'm being sarcastic.)
Worst. Accessory. Ever.
Just when you think you’ve seen everything…
Why why why
If anybody actually buys this I wonder how many of them console will have liquid damage in them after some time
Rather than a 21+ restriction it should be strictly 17-23 as anyone older than that has more sense and taste.
Just in time for shots n bo6🤣
This is funny to me because I pack my Xbox up every other week for a gaming night. The drink of choice? Mostly SoCo. 😂
Does this have any in-game utility, like a booze Amiibo? If it did, I might buy it. If not, that idea is yours now, SoCo, use it well
I don't understand, you can now hold that drink on your series X? So it can get warm by the residual heat of the console? Also it is not like you play with the console right next to you, so you are going to have to get up to where the console is to pick up your drink... very puzzling
If you actually have the Xbox fridge, then yes, I can see the appeal.
But not directly attached to your console. That’s a terrible idea. There is just too much potential for things to go wrong.
Who are the ad wizards that came up with that?
It doesn't look like it goes with the console. I don't understand why it involves the console at all. I don't understand why you can use a remote to dispense a bottle that you need to walk up and retrieve.
The one advantage is it does make the Xbox drinking game where you take a shot every time they say "Game Pass" during an showcase event much more convenient and on-brand.
To the people thinking liquid damage, though, it just dispenses bottles if the picture is right, it doesn't dispense liquid directly, so there's not much risk there. There's also no point though. Seems like a novelty gag gift thing.
@themightyant No, always-on Kinekt is still worse.
Ok, whoa. That was not what I was thinking about when I read the headline. lol.
It's so tacky and looks like a Photo-booth. lol.
So... It's a USB powered shot dispenser awkwardly clipped to a console?
Edit: hold on, hold on. If you're having to collect the shot, What's the point in having a remote? This is a shot dispenser that's been placed next to an object that, quite paradoxically, the user of the object barely ever touches. Surely that's the worst location for a shot dispenser?
@Utena-mobile what were you thinking ?
@Utena-mobile What were you thinking? 🤔
Lol. uh, you know. Stuff.
Is there a video showing how it works? I can't find anything.
Stuff like this is why PlayStation just can't compete with Xbox! Xbox innovates like nobody else in the business! You won't get stuff like THIS on PS5!!!
