Aside from the botched launch of the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, we've really been loving what Aspyr has been doing with all these classic Star Wars ports in recent years, and we're getting another one in January 2025!
They're really digging into the pile this time with a port of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles from the PS1 era. Despite reviewing poorly back in the day, this game has attracted a passionate audience since it was first released in 2000 for PlayStation and Dreamcast, and we have a feeling it'll prove popular when it finally hits Xbox on January 23rd.
For those who didn't come across it originally, this is a fast, co-op focused action game where you'll be furiously swinging your lightsaber at a constant barrage of difficult enemies. Jedi Power Battles is known for being pretty punishing, so don't expect an easy ride! The good news is that Aspyr has improved this version with smoother jumps, better balance, greater UI customisation, and the ability to unlock all levels and characters from the outset.
We'll throw more details about Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles ahead of its Xbox release down below:
"Take back the Theed Palace in this fast and furious lightsaber action game. You will have the power of the Force and your trusty lightsaber to help you ward off legions of battle droids, destroyer droids, assassins, and other creatures from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace."
"Use classic or modern control schemes, toggle your Lightsaber colors to match the films, enjoy new playable characters such as the Tusken Raider, enter classic cheat codes like Big Head Mode, and discover more surprises in this 25th anniversary celebration of Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles."
Did you play Jedi Power Battles in the PS1 era? What do you think of it? Tell us in the comments.

I remember when this came out. I do not remember it being any good, though. Is this a cult classic status or something?
I’m absolutely loving these older games getting brought back as ports over recent years. Always found it hard to play when I was a kid but I’d love to have another go.
Sigh...still no Rogue Squadron.
@EVIL-C No Star Wars: Obi-Wan, either.
@FarmDog08 I remember it was bad as well maybe you need to be cult crazy to like it ha
That's a weird choice, but I do like older licensed games getting re-released so good on. I wonder if "Star Wars: Demolition" will get a re-release too?
Will Coruscant still be 2 levels long and can Qui Gon easily beat Darth Maul?
This is a huge shock but I love it. I hope all ps1 bonuses are included
@FraserG I'm holding out for Super Bombad Racing.
i own this on my dreamcast. its been...a very long time since i've played this but i still remember how stupidly hard it is.
@FraserG That one I've never had a chance to play, but I'm all for more classic Star Wars remasters. 🙏🥹
I used to love this back in the day. We'll have to play it with my bro to see is it any good nowadays (I remembers when Darth Maul was hopping over a cavern in final level, if you throw your saber at him as Mace Windu, he falls down and you get stuck until you reset the level)
