We're just about the approach the 11-year anniversary of the Xbox One's launch, and we're still getting games for it! In fact, EA just released a new version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for the console, and it seems to be selling pretty well.
How do we know? Well, looking at the "Top Paid" charts in the UK earlier today, we noticed that Survivor is on the first page - it's actually in 90th place as things stand. In the US, it's slightly further back in 129th place.
Here's a look at the UK chart - keep in mind that the likes of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Resident Evil and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War were on sale recently, hence why they're so high up in the list as things stand.

OK, that may not look or sound particularly impressive, but when you think of the sheer number of games on Xbox and how difficult it is for anything to reach the top 100, combined with the fact this is an Xbox One port of a game that was on Series X and Series S 18 months ago, we're pretty impressed by how well the new version's apparently selling so far!
For those who are still on the fence about whether to pick it up or not, you're obviously going to get drawbacks on Xbox One compared to the current-gen versions, especially if you play on Xbox One S. The Xbox One X version is apparently much more solid though, boasting better image quality and a tighter 30FPS frame rate.
However you choose to play, one thing's for sure - the Xbox One might be old, but it's definitely not finished yet!

Just for curiosity's sake, how does this version runs on Series S or X?
I mean yeah, there are still more gamers on last "gen" consoles than on current gen (especially if you include the switch which is weaker than last gen). As has been said the biggest games that most people play (Fortnite, GTA V, COD, Sports games) are still launching cross gen and/or have regular updates on all platforms. So the vast majority haven't upgraded yet and as such publishers are still going to follow the market. Like these people are trying to sell their games to the most amount of people. That's all. People also discount the effect of the Nintendo Switch and probably even the switch 2 if rumors of its tech capabilities are true. As a platform it has the most users of any single console but the current model is literally weaker than an Xbox One and it's successor is expected to be in line with a steam deck which is about as strong as a PS4. Publishers and devs want their games on the switch because that's a ton of potential sales, and if they've managed to port to the switch... why not the Xbox One and PS4 as well? That's over 100m potential sales just lying in the corner. That's literally more potential sales than they could get targeting this gen alone lying in the corner.
This also again begs the question of why Microsoft should care about current gen sales not being super high. Some of it is the console market not hugely growing, but a lot of it is people not having a reason to upgrade. And what does Xbox care? I mean they literally still sell their consoles at a loss (they're the only console maker that still does), so we should be overly concerned about Xbox not managing to sell the same gamers a new console at a loss so they could buy the same games they would have on their old console? Like these people weren't ever going to buy and play Baldur's Gate 3. On the other hand Microsoft has reported that they've seen more completely new users and these people are mostly buying the series S (so I think the strategy of Series X for upgrades and Series S for new users has worked to a extent, though they definitely could push the marketing for that). This combined with the sticky users still on last gen actively playing and buying and spending money on Microtransactions is what's led them to be able to say they have more console users than ever. I imagine it's the same for Sony (but don't follow their news; that said their pricing scheme has been like the opposite of indicative of seeing, wanting, or even trying to target new users).
With good reason the expectation is that GTA VI is what finally makes people want to start to upgrade. In business sense it'll bring the general audience onboard (though, there will be laggards for the longest). However, even then not everyone is buying GTA VI at launch. I really don't think we'll start to see most users on current gen until 2026 at minimum. Which I'm starting to wonder if Xbox predicts as well with the rumors of a new console "generation" for their quarter of a century anniversary. That'll be interesting if so.
Overall lameduck doesn't even begin to describe this "generation". For the most part, I think generations are dead and honestly I say good riddance. Hardware upgrades will always be here. But the idea of generations just seemed to be one to justify why compatibility is wildly inconsistent and gaming libraries couldn't be transfered over entirely from one model to its successor.
And this is why they keep supporting last gen platforms.

@WildConcept6 There are certainly more last gen consoles out there, but are there actually more players on last gen than next gen? Probably not. Why?
Most of the people who bought next gen already had last gen consoles and no longer use them. Moreover someone who recently invested in a new console is far more likely to still be an active player than someone that bought a decade ago. Far more likely that older console is gathering dust.
The most recent stats we had on this (on PlayStation anyway) was it was 50:50 between PS4 and PS5 with 49 million active consoles on each as of April 2024, despite the PS4 selling 117.2 million and PS5 being less than half that at the time at 56 million. i.e. only 42% of PS4s were actively used, whereas it was 88% of PS5s
Since then PS5 has sold another 6 million, almost all of which are likely to be active, whereas some would have upgraded from PS4 or fallen off making more PS4's inactive. This in turn would have made PS5 overtake PS4 in terms of players. Xbox will be in a similar boat.
But there are still a lot of last gen players, who shouldn't be ignored. I agree something like GTAVI might be the game that makes a lot of gamers jump. But for other games I prefer this route of focusing on next-gen and then a year or so later bringing it to last-gen IF they can make it work, this was last gen doesn't hold back next-gen.
Good because I own an original Xbox, 360, one and a series X all work great except my series X had it 2 years and now it won't turn on and sadly hardly ever played because I have so many games on the other systems, just sucks I gotta re buy another survivor game, and outlaws
