Earlier this month, it was announced that PS1 classic Croc is getting an upcoming remaster for Xbox - but we have some unfortunate news for the collectors amongst us. The developer has announced that Rock It Games will be making a physical version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, but only for PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
That's right, for now at least, there's no Xbox version in sight for these upcoming physical editions of the Croc remaster. We'll throw the publisher's tweet containing this information down below, which also details what extra goodies will be included in both editions.
In more positive news, we also have an update from developer Argonaut Games on when Croc Remastered might actually launch on Xbox. There's no solid date yet, but the team says that its "anticipated release" is December 2024 - which is new info, as last week's update contained no launch window at all.
Down below is a link to some more information on this new release of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, but physical edition fans will have to miss out if they wanted to pick the game up on Xbox. Digital-only for now, we're afraid!
What do you make of this latest Xbox snub? Tell us your thoughts on the news down in the comments.

Good thing Xbox are bringing first party games over to them, most likely in disc format. Really nice to see that Playstation in return are being fair......
Oh wait.
Makes sense since within the last few weeks I believe was reported that Xbox is like 75% digital or something?!
I can't find the article for the exact number, but it was pretty high compared to Switch and PlayStation.
This is such a niche release to begin with that the bean counters figured it would probably lose money making physical Xbox versions given the digital focus.
@GuyinPA75 this has nothing to do with PlayStation though. Sony don’t own the IP. It’s the company that’s making the physical versions.
well i was planning to get it physical but don't want it for my ps5 or switch. digital it is i guess.
@GuyinPA75 You're smart one aren't you, lol.
Whoever writes many of the italicized subtitle puns on this site and PushSquare needs a raise XD
Honestly who cares i can't wait till they stop making disc games most of this gen Xbox owners are series s so that's probably the reason why to small of a pond to fish in for them don't blame them it's digital and that's best so 🎉👍👏🙆🙏
Didn't they just show that 91% of games on Xbox are purchased digitally? Clearly they aren't going to lose money by making a shall batch of physical versions. Everything is going all digital for better or worse so get used to it folks.
@Balaam_ I came to comment that I loved the subtitle too
@Ken_Kaniff @SCHONBOB I stand corrected and look quite silly. Consider it an error by a life long, hardcore, but severely, jaded, Xbox fan.
At this stage pretty much reflex action anytime see Xbox news with Playstation attached.
@GuyinPA75 you are forgiven.
Are people actually interested in this? I had it on Saturn way back when, it sucked compared to Spyro, Banjo, Mario 64 etc. I don't see a remaster fixing the boring gameplay.
Awww, he looks cute. I think I'm going to buy this on my Switch.
Btw, I'm so sick of Xbox missing out on physical releases, but they did it to themselves. I'm going to cry a little bit if Hellblade 2 gets a Playstation physical version but not an Xbox.
@Balaam_ for real. A major reason I come here and to PS is for the humourous subtitles
Probably not worth all the manufacturing costs for the limited number of Xbox Gamers that would buy it Physically these days when Series S is the bigger seller and that doesn't have a Disc Drive.
Fewer and fewer Xbox Gamers are buying Physical and if they don't think it will sell enough to warrant the cost etc. These days, it would have to be something 'special' for me to want to buy on disc. The vast majority of games I've bought in recent years are digital - on sale through their store. My disc drive is more for the games I can play via Backwards Compatibility to XB1 and older Consoles.
@Arkz It's gonna be amazing take that negativity elsewhere my friend 🙆
@Ricky-Spanish Hey if you can enjoy it, great. I think it's polishing a turd.
@Arkz I am. I grew up with an N64 and had easy access to most of the platformer heavy hitters, but I was still jealous of Crash, Spyro, and Croc players.
Rented a PS1 once and had Croc and the original Spider-Man Neversoft game with it. I loved Croc despite the controls not being what I expected at the time, and Spider Man BLEW MY MIND having so much voice acting and cutscenes compared to the N64 version. Point is, yes, even while sitting in the green fields of platformer utopia that was N64, I still wanted Croc! (..and Crash and Spyro naturally)
