Wow! Microsoft wasn't kidding when it said it wanted to deepen its relationship with Square Enix - the Japanese game maker has just shadow dropped eight titles on Xbox today, following Team Green's Tokyo Game Show livestream.
Okay, yes, six of these are Final Fantasy titles that make up the company's 'Pixel Remaster' collection, but they are all purchasable separately, and there's absolutely tons of content packed into these titles.
Alongside those six games, we have Trials of Mana and Legends of Mana, both of which are available on Xbox Game Pass! Yep, today's Square Enix shadow drop includes two new Game Pass titles, which is fantastic to see.
Here's an introduction to all of these new Square Enix titles:
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster (I, II, III, IV, V, VI)
"Return to the games that started it all… the first six Final Fantasy games are now available on Xbox and Windows! Experience the 6 incredible stories that captivated a generation in the ultimate 2D pixel remasters. Final Fantasy I-VI are available either individually, or as part of a bundle."
Legends Of Mana (Xbox Game Pass)
"Legend of Mana is now available on Xbox and Windows with Xbox Game Pass. Meet a colorful cast of characters, square off against fearsome monsters, and explore the vast world of Fa’Diel in this HD remaster of the beloved classic."
Trials Of Mana (Xbox Game Pass)
"Overcome the tests of fate! Trials of Mana is now available on Xbox and Windows with Xbox Game Pass. Experience the adventure - fully modernized with graphic improvements, character voiceover support, a remastered soundtrack and a new episode which you can experience after the ending, in addition to an ability system and a new class that reconstructs the character levelling system plus more active battles!"
Are you going to be playing any of these? Tell us if you're excited about any of them down below!

The addition of the 2 Mana games makes me keep GamePass for a few more months, just when I was about to unsubscribe. Good news.
@jolteon23 Really nice additions after a quiet month!
Mana games for me!
I've had Trials of Mana on Switch since 2020 and still haven't played it. Is the Xbox version 60fps?
Wow... Fantastic... Well donne squarenix
You don't have any New ideas anymore. Let's wait for a nice crash of this market.
I'll buy FF3 for sure. But I think I'll wait for a sale. Too many games right now.
@Lup they are on sale for 20% off singularly and the collection. They don't often go on sale on ps or switch even when square enix sales are on.
@deadmaker Yes. 60fps VRR.
@Beetlebum91 @Lup Right, the whole Pixel Remaster collection is 20% off on Xbox. I just bought it. I will wait for a sale that includes Visions of Mana because I want to play the other two first: Trials of Mana and Legend of Mana, both on Game Pass. If you want to play Secret of Mana, play the SNES version, the PC/PS4 remake is awful.
Get hyped for Square collaborating closely with Xbox going forward and hope for FFVIIR or at least FFXVI
Get years old mobile ports
The absolute state of being an Xbox fan
Noice. Any order to play the mana games?
@Jenkinss Fingers crossed, bro!
Trials Of Mana in particular is excellent, it's a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2 in the west), well worth a play.
It would be very funny if Xbox gets FFXVI before PS5 gets FFXIII, and thus becomes the first current gen console to have every mainline, single player Final Fantasy.
@MetalGear_Yoshi I wouldn't care much about the order, but Trials of Mana (remake of SNES game), Legend of Mana (remake of PS game) and Visions of Mana (new game).
@MetalGear_Yoshi Nah. Like Final Fantasy, they’re all standalone games that just have certain themes and vibes in common.
What sucks is the Pixel Remaster being released in Xbox lacks all the added content from the Definitive Pixel Remaster like new jobs, dungeons, etc. Even the 10 hour story extension one of them has.
@InterceptorAlpha What are you talking about, the description on the xbox store and steam seem copy/paste to me
@InterceptorAlpha I didn't know there was another version, I'm confused. Could you elaborate?
Finally. The 1-6 Pixel games are on Xbox. Thank you for shortening my Xbox purchase bucket list. The remainder of my wish list?
-Chrono Trigger
-Secret of Mana (2D only)
-Vagrant Story
-Triangle Strategy
-Dino Crisis
-FF Tactics
Finally getting FF I-VI on Xbox PLUS being on sale for $59.99. SOLD!
@MetalGear_Yoshi It really doesn't matter what order you play them, they all are separate stories
That Final Fantasy VII Remake exclusivity deal must be ironclad. Didn't SquareEnix say that FF VII remakes didn't meet their expected revenues?
@cardcrusher29 yes, ironclad… so much so that all three chapters will have to be on PS before any come to Xbox - if you can afford to lose $200 million on Concorde then what are a few millions elsewhere?
Will definitely buy ffiv at some point
@AlwaysPlaying Since VII Rebirth and XVI had disappointing sales on PS5, I wonder if Sony also lost money with those deals. Obviously, sales weren't enough for Square Enix. On the plus side, Xbox will get the definitive edition of all of them and with better performance than the shockingly choppy PS5 temporary exclusives.
Bought them all (for the third time). Finally!
@johndoe89 Nice avatar, chummer.
Odd choices, but I'm happy. Held out on Pixel Remasters til now, so goodbye reward points. And I've been meaning to play Trials of Mana remake and Legend of Mana for ages, so happy to see them on game pass.
Still. Of all the things they could release...
@NotoriousWhiz So why don't you cut the drek and slot him some nuyen
@InterceptorAlpha Huh? What "definitive pixel remaster"? You mean the Game Boy Advance games? That added stuff is nothing to cry about.
Why still no ff7 remake & ff 16?? The deal already ended!!?
@johndoe89 well how about shadow run for SNES on game pass?🤔🤣
Those titles are great but when are we going to get CHRONO TRIGGER!!!!!
