Well folks, we have a huge Free Play Days offering to enjoy this weekend. Microsoft has decided to bring a total of 10 games to the program this week, with a fantastic mix of titles on offer as part of the team's weekly free trial service.
Now, we will add one caveat that Ghostrunner 2 isn't showing up as installable for us at the time of writing, but the rest of the selection is live and ready to go - hopefully that one gets sorted out shortly.
In the meantime, here's the full Free Play Days list for this weekend:
- Assetto Corsa Competizione
- Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
- Control
- Crime Boss: Rockay City
- Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
- Ghostrunner 2
- Miasma Chronicles
- Portal Knights
- Stray Blade
- Terraria
You'll need a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Core, Xbox Game Pass Standard or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to take part in Free Play Days, given that all three tiers now include online access just like Xbox Live Gold used to. All of the above titles are playable until late on Sunday, September 22.
A bunch of these games are on sale right now as well, with Xbox hosting multiple promotions on its digital storefront at the moment. We'll drop a link to our summary of these Xbox sales down below, but it's also worth having a good browse on your console to see everything that's included this week.
Xbox Free Play Days - How To Download The Games
- Search for the game on the Xbox Store
- Hit the "Install, Included with Game Pass" or "Free Trial" button
- Play the game!
Will you be putting some time into any of these games this weekend? Let us know down below.

Any recommendations does anyone know if any of these are worth the download?
@Ricky-Spanish
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night definitely worth a try.
@Ricky-Spanish
They are all worth a go if you've never played any of them.
Depends on what game genre floats your boat.
@Kezelpaso Your missing out Stray Blade from the list. That’s the 10th game missing from the list incase anyone was wondering.
@MaccaMUFC Oops! That's been added now.
@Ricky-Spanish Bloodstained is 100% worth it, I'm quite intrigued by Crime Boss since it's had a lot of improvements made to it since releasing. And Stray Blade also looks decent
Thanks for the info guys 👍
These devs have absolutely no respect for our time! 😉
I ended up buying Classified: France ‘44 after the last free play day, I think I’ve got a few too many games on the go now, especially with some big releases coming in the near future!
@Old_Man_Harper How is that game? It caught my eye because I'm a sucker for WW2 themes, but it seemed fairly new and didn't have any reviews out last time I checked.
Miasma Chronicles looks interesting. It is a neat stealth-tactics game
@Elbow it’s quite XCOM like, although there doesn’t appear to be permadeath, at least not in the difficulty I’m playing at - downed troops are timed out for three turns and if they are downed again they retreat. The missions are things like blow up a bridge or ambush a convoy. Your squad levels up with experience and you have to rotate them for wounds or fatigue or their action points are reduced. There’s a strategic level (again like XCOM) where you have to control areas of France and a German Partisan-hunter unit is also after you.
I wouldn’t describe it as being as polished as XCOM, but I found it engrossing and ended up playing it all weekend (and then bought it).
Stray Blade is worth a look. Its one of the more accessible souls like games on the market that lets you adjust difficulty to suit your preferences. I had fun with it & i am not normally a souls fan
I did play it on PS5 & it had no issues. I would expect series version to be the same
@Elbow I should probably add that the voice acting is pretty ‘Allo ‘Allo! but it didn’t spoil my fun.
@Old_Man_Harper Thank you! I wasn't sure what to make of it, I might keep my eye on this for the next time it's on sale.
Ghostrunner 2 is superb.
