The excellent cloud-based retro games service Antstream Arcade recently launched on PlayStation following its Xbox debut a year ago, and it sounds like we could be getting some more PS1 games on there as a result.
Speaking to Game Rant recently (thanks Time Extension for spotting it!), studio head Mike Rouse revealed that the company has licensed around 50 PS1 games in all, and until now they've just been trying to balance out the new additions across various systems. But, if there's more interest in "PlayStation Stuff", they'll look at doing more.
"We actually have a ton of PlayStation games already licensed. So what we do look at is what games release in what week, and we try to balance it across the different types of platforms we have, the different genres we have, and the needs that people have. So if the community is calling out for more PlayStation, we'll look at doing more PlayStation stuff. We've probably got another 50 already licensed PlayStation games, and there's more being licensed all the time."
It's not like we haven't seen any in the past though - earlier this year, we highlighted that eight PS1 games were now playable on Xbox via Antstream Arcade, including the likes of Glover, Hogs of War and the original Worms.
Also, what's perhaps even more exciting is that Rouse reportedly expressed interest in adding games from more recent consoles, which suggests that we could be looking at games from the original Xbox (as well as PS2 and Nintendo GameCube) making their way to Antstream eventually. We don't know about you, but we'd love to see that!
Are you interested in playing more PS1 games on Antstream Arcade? Let us know down in the comments.

I'm genuinely surprised services like this are profitable, given the prevalence of emulation, and it disappoints me that these retro games aren't released without some reasonable enhancements where appropriate — proper 16:9 support, local co-op added, remixed levels, etc. etc.
I don't understand how this works is it a game or subscription?
I've got a lifetime subscription to Antstream...it's not bad and I check it out once in a while instead of using one of my other modern retro systems.
@Ricky-Spanish
Subscription and I paid £60 or £70 bucks for a lifetime subscription...I have many many ways of playing old games but it's good having tons of retro games one click away on the Xbox Dashboard.
Click it and it opens a new dashboard with Super Nintendo, Sega Megadrive, Arcade games etc.
I don't believe anything they ever say.
They keep talking about building their vision gui. They sound like a cult lol.
Horrible customer service as well.
@MSX Thanks for the info 👍
@Ricky-Spanish it's a subscription service but you have to pay yearly. Some very gullible people pay for "lifetime" access. The type of people who bought the Atari VCS or OUYA.
If you want to see what it's like to have lagging in a retro game, and have a horrible experience looking for games to play; this is the way to go
Get parasite eve 2 n Dino crisis 1 n 2 on n I'd have to get it 🤣
@MSX Where do you sign up for this? I can never find it.
@cburg just search on Xbox store
@Fishticon I can honestly say, that in the 8 months or so that I have used Antstream on the XBOX, from memory I have only had 3 or 4 occasions where I noticed a game stutter or seriously lag.
@Fishticon
If you're referring to me then It's a lifetime subscription for as long as the service runs!
I was a fan of Mike's art direction on the PlayStation 2 Game that he worked on : The Getaway, and also a fan of his YouTube channel
: Retro Gamer Boy....so I wanted to support Mike Rouse for the third time on his latest endeavor of keeping classic games alive with Antstream.
Antstream is OK for killing a few minutes here and there but honestly I've only played it a handful of times since the lifetime subscription first went live as I've got better ways to play my favourite retro games but I did complete a good few 80s Arcade games that I never finished back in the day as a kid so it was good getting them off my list, plus it feels like l got all my pocket money back from the 80s Arcades that we all went too back then in groups.
For the record I've never bought the Atari VCS or OUY, but I did spend some cash that I saved from using Xbox Gamepass and bought all this for my

( USB C cable is for Docking the Analogue Pocket next to me but I can DOCK it to the TV that's across the room using the USB C cable without actually putting it in the DOCK which prevents scratches on the bottom of the Pocket and also not have to remove the soft TPU case every time it Docks )
JVC :
1 x JVC TM-H150C PVM CRT
1 x JVC Slide in SCART Connector
(for playing Analogue Consoles Super NT / Mega SG hopefully others as it's got over 750 Scan lines and I Iove playing games on it as it gives me a very authentic gaming experience like how I remember it, but it's even better )

Which has all the Retro connections I'd need unlike my main TVs which only have HDMI In, on them now as they are too modern, on both the living room and bedroom TVs
The LG has :
1 x RGB SCART In
1 x Component In
1 x Composite In
1 x PC RGB VGA In
future Modded DREAMCAST 💪
1 x DVI In ( HDMI )
1 X HDMI IN
This is enough for me combined with my Professional JVC PVM CRT Monitor
But I'm currently only using my Analogue Duo on this TV as I'm waiting for it to be DAC compatible....But I'm also picking up a fully Modded Nintendo Wii:U from Etsy with 2TB Hard Drives with the full N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii:U game libraries on it also with thousands of games for 8Bit/16Bit /32Bit systems and Arcade games on a SD Card to get the most out of my Retro Corner....I'll get the most out of this LG TV between the Analogue Duo Modded Wii:U and Modded future Sega Dreamcast....these are all software emulation on the Wii:U apart from actual Wii:U games and the future Sega Dreamcast unlike the consoles from Analogue which is FPGA Hardware emulation....my preference since I no longer have the original consoles anymore as I gave them all to family members back in the day.
I don't really use a PC or Laptop for Retro stuff and I'm sure I've forgotten stuff.
Anyway @Fishticon you have a really nice happy day my friend and I'm sorry your experiencing a bad time playing retro games on Antstream....maybe you could save up and try many of the other retro gaming options that exists out there, surely you've saved tons of money like me with using Xbox Gamepass to play modern games.
@cburg
Get on your Xbox and download the Antstream app...create an account and sign up for life.
Remember this is for Xbox only so you'd have to sign up again if you wanted to use it on PlayStation.
It's currently $39.99 / £39.99 for the year or it's $99.99 / £99.99 for a lifetime subscription of the service...if more people buy it then we all win.
I got it as soon as it came out for $69.99 / £69.99 for a lifetime subscription and the price like everything now is only going up and up.
It's ASININE to me to pay for the year....Smart people get the lifetime subscription
Get it on your favourite console so choose wisely my friend.
@Fishticon obviously your internet isnt good, it doesnt lag for me
@devil76 it doesn't work well if you're not near a server. Unfortunately in Canada there's only one server, and it's in central Canada. I'm on the east coast.
I wish they would have said their server locations before I paid.
Sorry to hear that, I didnt mean to sound like i was being funny. i have it on pc and you have a gem system so you can try games for free. Was a silly feature to leave out
