Ahead of its upcoming launch on Xbox early next month, Focus Entertainment has revealed all of the tech specs for its upcoming co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
We've got the full lowdown on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S here, which is always nice to see. Series X has two modes to choose from, while unsurprisingly, Series S has just the one way to play.
Here are the full specs for Space Marine 2:
- Xbox Series X: 4K at 30FPS or 1080p at 60FPS.
- Xbox Series S: 1440p at 30FPS.
These figures will do rather nicely - we're especially happy to see a 60FPS performance mode on Series X, even if the game's resolution has taken a bit of a hit to get there. This one is an action-packed shooter, so we reckon that 60FPS mode will be the way to go on Series X.
Earlier this month, we told you all about how much we loved Space Marine 2 during our pre-release hands-on preview, so it's no secret that we're very excited for this one to finally come to Xbox. Only a few days to go until the game's release on September 9!
Which mode will you choose? Tell us your preferred way to play down below!

Good I am glad they offer the option for folks on series x. That way folks can decide what's best for their circumstances.
With a 1440 monitor I am more than happy to take a resolution hit, than a graphical hit to get 60fps
@abe_hikura really do feel like 1440p monitors are the best way to play the majority of titles on series x. Series x fully supports freesync and 1440p output - most titles targeting 4k upscale from 1440p and those with performance modes typically target 1440p.
The technology within the monitor space is also improving to better support HDR - there are several OLED and mini LED options to choose from. Most monitors support HDR10, with dell even launching one with Dolby vision support this year.
That's a good compromise for 60fps. I guess Series S users could have had an option to run sub 1080p for 60? Or possibly the memory bandwidth is a constrain they can't get round. But either way, look forward to playing this soon.
Isn't this game coming to gamepass day 1 too? I swear I could remember this being in a showcase announced day 1 gamepass...
@BossBE Nope, this isn't on Game Pass day 1
Just to clarify, they said “up to 60fps” for the performance mode, right? It’s not a locked 60@1080, likely moves around is what I got from their comment.
This is definitely on my radar, though the next few weeks I’m gonna be busy with Star Wars Outlaws and Astro Bot. Saying that, if this reviews well I may not be able to wait 🤪
One happy series S owner here.
@Neither_scene When I got my gaming PC a few weeks back, I got a 27" LG Nano IPS monitor. It supports HDR10 (albeit "only" 400 nits - but HDR provides more than just peak brightness benefits), 165Hz, G-Sync, and is 1440p. It has 2 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort. The only drawback is that there are no built-in speakers.
I am seriously considering moving my PS5 into the computer room as I feel like games look better on that than they do on my 55" Vizio M7 Quantum 4K TV - then again, that could also be attributed to the fact I can run games on significantly higher presets on PC more so than the display itself.
Brace yourselves sons of Guilliman, here comes the GOTY.
@Neither_scene agreed. I wanted a new monitor as I couldn't keep stealing my PC one, and took a pint on a 1440 VRR one and it's been fantastic. More and more games have actually settings for 1440 (high five to the one good thing from Fallout 4's next gen update)
but most games end up gutting the graphics instead of resolution. Leaving us with uglier games in crystal clear 4k lol
How come Series X doesn't have 1440 at 60FPS? That would be the sweet spot for many.
Always go for 60 FPS.
Didn't realise it was so close 😭 think I'm gunna AV to grab it in couple week looks 💩hot😎
Why not 1440p at 60?
