We've got a couple of unexpected first-party Xbox games launching soon! Well... kinda.
It's been announced today that both The Elder Scrolls: Castles and Age of Empires Mobile will be releasing on September 10th and October 17th respectively, available for both Android and iOS. We've seen bits of both games on numerous occasions in the past, but this is the first time they're going to be publicly available for all players.
So, what are they? The Elder Scrolls: Castles is a strategy game where it's your goal to rule a flourishing kingdom, while Age of Empires Mobile aims to recapture the magic of the PC and Xbox series in a small handheld form.
As far as we're aware, both titles will be entirely free to download when they release in the near future, and pre-registrations are available now if you're keen to get signed up straight away. We'll throw more details down below.
The Elder Scrolls: Castles (September 10)
From Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning developer behind Skyrim and Fallout Shelter, comes The Elder Scrolls: Castles – a new mobile game that puts you in control of your very own castle and dynasty. Oversee your subjects as the years come and go, families grow, and new rulers take the throne.
Age of Empires Mobile (October 17)
Age of Empires Mobile seamlessly blends classic elements of Age of Empires with brand-new mobile gameplay, bringing players a fresh gaming experience. Gather resources, form global alliances, and control heroes in real time fast-paced battles as immerse yourself in an epic adventure to build the most powerful empire!

Oh cool a 3rd Age of Empires mobile game since they've shut down 2 of them already not including the turd that was AOE Online. We believe in game preservation.
@FraserG it's time for Markatron84's Super Happy Feedback and/or Question Fun Time™!
Why can't we post one-word comments? I read this story and just wanted to say, "ew". But "ew" isn't allowed because apparently I haven't said enough.
Ew, though.
Eww mobile games
This just reminds me TES Blades was such a flop they didn't bother putting it on Xbox or PS. But they kill an actual fun mobile game like Mighty DOOM presumably because they expect Candy Crush-level money from any mobile game, and it was very F2P friendly.
@Markatron84 LOVE that title.
I'll admit I'm not sure what the reasoning is (it predates my time at Hookshot Media), but I assume it's to help avoid spam.
Will Xbox achievements be included? For me it is an important motivation.
I’ll get Castles. I liked Fallout Shelter fair enough. Given how weak the gaming lineup has been for me personally, it might end up being the third mobile game ever to hit my top 20 list by the end of the year if it improves on what I liked about Fallout Shelter.
How tiny will the Age of Empire peons be on my phone screen? :/
If you answered "non-existent", you would be correct.
Age of Mythology on Xbox/PC however... Let's Go!
