Earlier this month, we finally got that sweet sweet release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard - BioWare's latest is launching almost a decade after the series' last mainline entry in Dragon Age: Inquisition! Anyway, enough about the silly wait time, EA is finally lifting the veil on this upcoming Xbox RPG; with combat being fully detailed in the above video.
The 10-minute clip brings together four separate sections covering all things Dragon Age combat, with BioWare taking a look at how the game's systems will come together while out on the battlefield. It's an interesting sneak peek at how The Veilguard handles skills, basic combat, combos and a whole lot more.

"Since our summer reveal in June, we’ve been reading all the great excitement for the game and listening closely to what you’d like to see next. Our reveal trailer showed off the prologue and very beginning of the game, and now we want to shift our focus to higher level combat. Today, we’re going to cover our game’s combat system, looking at how Rook and Companions can be built up to meet the perils facing Thedas, using deep RPG systems."
This is all looking rather splendid, and we're intrigued to see how it all comes together on Xbox Series X|S this Halloween. Yep, as we mentioned up at the top there - The Veilguard has officially been dated, and it comes to Xbox on October 31st!
If you want to prepare yourself for that day, how about a quick read of our summertime preview? PX's video guru Craig Reid got a good look at this new Dragon Age title back in June - we'll drop a link to that write-up down below.
Excited for this one, PXers? Tell us what you think of this new video down in the comments.

Looks good.
Still not happy about the party count going to 3. I'm sure its going to have an effect on who I pick and how I build the characters.
This was gonna be a day 1 for me, but I just don't have the time between SW Outlaws and AC Shadows.
I'm sure I'm gonna love it but it'll have to wait.
The combat looks awesome. I haven't play Inquisition since it came out in 2014, but I don't remember the pause ability in combat. Is that new, or am I just getting old?
As an aside, how on Earth are you supposed to read the text they put to the side each time before it disappears? 🤪
I can't f**king wait! I'm trying to avoid as many spoilers as I can but the combat looks absolutely chaotic and brutal. So glad they changed things, Inquisition had terrible combat. Anyway, pre-ordered and now it's all about counting the days before release.
@Fiendish-Beaver I won't say you're getting old... but in Inquisition you could pause combat to plan your movements You made me feel old because I played 1 and 2 when they launched but can't remember if that mechanic was in there too.
@Secryt as an old person I believe that option was in 1 at least. Probably 2 as well.
Well, @ParsnipHero, now we have to have an 'old off'! Have you hit your 60s yet...? 😂
You think not remembering whether it was in the first and second game is bad, @Secryt, I cannot even remember if I played the second! 🤪 I am officially old though, so that's me defence.
I don't recall having used pause in Inquisition, and in all honesty, I don't think I've ever used it in any game, even when it has been available. Looking forward to giving it a go though...
@Fiendish-Beaver you’ve got me there. I concede!
I claim victory, @ParsnipHero! 😂
