Yes, it's still the middle of the month and we've got a large batch of July Xbox Game Pass additions still to come, but as we always do around this time, we're taking an early look at what's ahead for August 2024 on Xbox Game Pass as well.
And the answer is... not that much just yet. However, August looks like it could be pretty interesting, with at least one Activision Blizzard title rumoured for Xbox Game Pass next month, along with at least one EA Play free trial as well.
The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is the Activision game that's set to join at some point in August (potentially along with Spyro and Tony Hawk as well), while Madden NFL 25's EA Play trial begins on August 13th.
Beyond that, we know of two Xbox Game Pass releases that will definitely be launching day one on Xbox Game Pass in August 2024, and those are Creatures of Ava and Sopa. We'll throw more details about those down below.
Keep in mind that we've got so much still to come on Xbox Game Pass this month as well, including Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Dungeons Of Hinterberg and maybe even a Call of Duty game if we're lucky. Those first three should all be getting reviews on Pure Xbox in the near future too!
Creatures of Ava (August 7)
Creatures of Ava is an action-adventure game focused on saving, not collecting, creatures. The story unfolds on the planet Ava, where our heroine Vic and her companion Tabitha have crash-landed. The vibrant biomes of Ava are teeming with life and colors, but the planet faces a grave threat. An infection known as the 'withering' is spreading, threatening to wipe out all life forms. It's up to you to understand and stop this process.
Sopa - Tale Of The Stolen Potato (August TBD)
Miho steps into the pantry to fetch a potato for his grandma and falls into a magical world full of wonders. Meet quirky characters, venture through the depths of South America, and learn the importance of the things we pass along in this unforgettable emotional narrative adventure.

It’s ridiculously nothing from Activision has made its way to the service other than Diablo IV, but I guess it’s part of the “Game Pass ain’t it” strategy currently being implemented.
These articles are going to get really confusing come September
@IOI I'm still shocked they didn't do an ABK dump at the showcase.
Both look actually really fun to play! Nice!
We need better games than this now the price has gone up absolute rubbish
People need to relax. Both look great and the August games for just the first half aren’t even announced yet! Our July was absolutely stacked. Cannot wait for all the Day One games we get next week!
zzzzzz, gp makes me sleepy.
Nothing very exciting, considering August should be summer holiday fun. I think the best summer of games was the year 2000 for the Dreamcast, many fond memories of playing crazy taxi, Ferrari 355 and a good few others. Tbh this summer feels a bit baron in general for all consoles.
I will not be renewing my gamepass when it expires as ps plus extra does enough to scratch my gaming itch.
Both look good fun. I might consider giving them a go
Kunitsu-Gami is just about the only thing I'm looking forward to.
After playing the demo, reminds me of one of those games that would drop during the 360 days where everyone would talk about its. Things like Braid, Bastion, etc.
Between the music, the graphics, it reminds me of things like Otogi Myth of Demons. While the weird(but good) gameplay combination of a third person hack and slash, base building, and tower defense, are all blended together well.
@Blofse Dreamcast had a great line up of games the first couple of years. The Daytona remake that had several new tracks beside the original 3 was awesome. Sega GT, Shenmue, Blue Stinger, Carrier, RE Code Veronica are just a few that comes to mind.
