Back at the end of last week, we mentioned how the highly ambitious Fallout 4 mod known as "Fallout: London" was still on the way despite a setback earlier this year, but as things stand, it's only ever expected to release on PC.
The mod's official FAQ simply states that there's no plan to reach Xbox or any other console, but speaking to Metro recently, lead developer Dean Carter advised that they'd love to create an Xbox version if Bethesda is willing to help:
‘What we want is to speak to a decision-maker, because if we could make it a standalone thing with their [Bethesda’s] permission, that means that people on gaming consoles could use it, which they currently can’t.’
Unfortunately, there's no guarantee Bethesda will want to get involved - and a lack of communication about Fallout 4's next-gen update is ultimately what led to Fallout: London getting delayed back in April. Apparently, the new solution on PC is to implement a "downgrader" that can remove the next-gen update and provide access to the mod.
It's probably best to never expect Fallout: London on Xbox, but if it ends up proving as great as it looks on PC, Bethesda may just be forced to sit up and take notice. We'll throw more details about the mod (along with screens) below.
"Fallout: London is an ambitious DLC-sized mod that brings the player into the nuclear apocalypse all the way to the doorsteps of Parliament. The mod encapsulates the gritty, adventurous nature of the Fallout games with a new world, factions, storylines, NPCs, weapons, creatures, & much more! This all comes together in a package tied with an uniquely British bow."

Would be great PR for Xbox and Microsoft.
YES PLEASE!!! Make it so Bethesda.
This would be fantastic and honestly feels a bit needed at the moment. I’d buy it!
On the one hand, of course it would be great to have more Fallout and especially one set outside the US. But its also not official or necessarily canon either so II doubt I'd bother if it did come to Xbox.
I personally don't agree with 'mods' in general anyway. I don't like Picasso's artstyle but I wouldn't 'Mod' it. My thought on 'mods' is that if they are good enough - then maybe Bethesda could employ them to make 'official' content.
It seems like the logical progression of the "Creation Club" I do think it will need some form of branding to separate it from the actual Fallout games though. "Tall Tales of the Wasteland" or something. Frame it as stories told by wastelanders around a campfire and not part of the actual canon.
I'd love this since I don't have a pc right now and really want to play this. This is like the opposite of what Nintendo would do if it went ahead like when the guy who translated Mother 3 offered it to them.
Not sure if this what's going on. But I'm really starting to feel this London Dev is looking for way to get a big pay day out of all this. Either via paid DLC or trying very hard to audition for Bethesda job. Haven't been following super close, so I could be wrong on all of it.
Probably never get done as the gatekeepers have no desire to get this done. Got to love anyone who wants to call Bethesda out though.
@GuyinPA75 I feel similarly. Maybe I'm just ignorant of how the mod scene works but do developers of other games help modders with their projects? Fallout London looks great but how is this different from any other mod affected by the last update?
@Wakkawipeout Yep definitely have same questions I do.
I'm not big on mods at all. So I'm fairly ignorant about them. Big thing for me is mods aren't cannon so it's waste my time. Plus mods not exactly have the greatest quality control. Well? On that part? It is a Bethesda game.
Not having good quality control would make it cannon, actually.
Bethesda made the massive mod Enderal: The Shards of Order an official Steam app freely accessible to anyone with a Steam Skyrim copy, complete with its own Achievements.
If they cooperated like that on PC before, hope they do the same now for Xbox.
This should only be a mod by a fan. It is a little too brazen to ask the officials to move it. No matter how well done it is, a mod should always be humble.
