Way back in April, SteamWorld Heist 2 was announced for Xbox Series X|S, and the team's initial reveal trailer included a Game Pass logo. Of course, since then we've been fully expecting the upcoming sequel to launch on Xbox Game Pass on August 8th - however, news has now surfaced that the Game Pass logo was a mistake, and the game is seemingly not coming to the service anymore.
Over at Xbox Era, the outlet received a statement from the game's marketing team that said it had "inadvertently" included a Game Pass logo in the SteamWorld Heist 2 announcement trailer.
"We inadvertently included a Game Pass logo in our reveal trailer.
The game will NOT be going on Game Pass. Thanks for asking!"
Once this news started to spread around, a senior reporter at Kotaku also asked for extra clarification. Unfortunately, this has only added extra confusion, as this response goes on to say that the team "hasn't finalized distribution plans" for SteamWorld Heist 2 - hinting that launch plans haven't been fully decided yet.
"We inadvertently included a Game Pass logo in our reveal trailer. We have not finalized our distribution plays for SteamWorld Heist 2 at this time. We'll share news about our distribution plans closer to launch."
All we can say for now is that the team did ask us to remove any Xbox Game Pass mentions from our recent hands-on preview, but it didn't provide any extra context about its Xbox Game Pass decision. We'll have to see how this one plays out at launch in August, but for now, SteamWorld Heist 2 is seemingly no longer coming to Xbox Game Pass.
