The Activision, and now Microsoft-owned IP, Crash Bandicoot has just had another sales milestone - announcing his collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has now hit 20 million sales globally after releasing on multiple platforms including Xbox One in 2018.
In case you missed it, the N. Sane trilogy is a remaster collection of Crash Bandicoot (1996), Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (1997) and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (1998). It was eventually followed by a fourth game Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time in 2020.
As already noted, Microsoft now technically owns this franchise, although the developer working on the Crash series Toys for Bob recently decided to go independent. However, its first project as an indie studio will be published by Microsoft. Crash Bandicoot joined Xbox's video game library when Microsoft finalised the acquisition of Activision Blizzard for close to $70 billion last year.

Only now? I’m kinda surprised.
@Yousef- 20M for a platformer game is a huge number
Never would I have imagined it was this popular. Kudos.
that’s very telling when only PS1 crash games from 20+ years ago can sell that much .
Getting a bit weird now that these ABK games are still not on Gamepass. Won't be long before it is a year since the acquisition.
And why are videogame journalists not asking Microsoft what their intentions are regarding these older games? The IGN/Phil Spencer interview was an open goal to ask what's happening.
It's a very important milestone, considering that it doesn't have the "Mario" name on the box that means automatic sales regardless of quality. Besides, they are hard to complete. I liked them more than I expected, not having played them before. 100% completed. The fixed camera makes 30fps bearable. It's a shame that Spyro Reignited Trilogy is 30fps and feels much lower for some reason, probably the camera. Crash Team Racing should also receive the FPS Boost treatment.
@TakeItEasy yeah that’s true. It’s cool to see though.
It is kind of interesting that the most recent new title didn't reach the highs of these remasters. 5 million is solid for crash 4 but it seems that a huge portion of the 20 million that bought the trilogy only have nostalgia for the 90s titles and not much interest in where the franchise goes in the future.
