Update: Redfall developer Arkane Austin says players "will be eligible to receive the value of the [DLC] upgrade", while Bethesda Support adds that the team is "working to finalize details for the Redfall credit program".
Original Aricle: Remember Redfall's planned DLC? Well, it never actually existed in any meaningful way, but two additional characters were announced around the launch of the game - and they'll no longer be releasing. Microsoft has closed the developer — Arkane Austin — and cancelled the release of its Redfall DLC packs.
This revelation comes alongside the shocking news that Xbox is closing four Bethesda studios as part of another massive restructure over at Microsoft. You can read more about this move down below, with details continuing to break as we speak.
As for Redfall and its previously planned add-ons, Microsoft has provided some information for users who purchased the DLC content. In an internal email outed by IGN, Xbox's Matt Booty says that the company will "provide make-good offers to players who purchased the Hero DLC". For now, we have no idea what these 'make-good offers' will consist of.
"Redfall’s previous update will be its last as we end all development on the game. The game and its servers will remain online for players to enjoy and we will provide make-good offers to players who purchased the Hero DLC."
We're hoping that Microsoft provides a public update on this shortly, and we'll bring you any more information on Xbox's Redfall DLC fiasco as soon as we hear it.
What do you expect Xbox to provide Redfall DLC owners? Tell us your suggestions down below.

A stake to the heart!!! Yeah cheesy i know. Well it was a bad game and the industry is going through a shift to make sure it’s more profitable and sustainable. Sucks to see it happen but it’s necessary in order to get a plan for the next 7-10 years. Cause more money has gone out then came in this year for many many studios.
Terrible to close the studio down when RedFall flopped. It wasn't the developers fault that they were forced to make it instead of Prey 2. This never ends well or with a good game.
I thought that after RedFall the studio would be given a chance to redeem themselves.
Let's all join together and show our disgust with the Xbox brand. Phil and the cretins working at Xbox need to go and will leave a bitter taste no matter what is shown or said at the showcase.
That is terrible news.... Redfall wasn't exactly amazing, but this still sucks...
take the money and run
Redfall was a terrible game, if I'm honest. But huge part of that is not on studio. Even Phil said he expected scores to be in 80-85 region based on testing.. many people tied to projections and release schedule of that game should be fired (including Phil) before the actual dev studio.
The minimum character limit won't let me just say 'Welp'
But 'Welp' regardless.
So no chance for a Cyberpunk 2077 like redemption then. Oh well.
I know a lot of gamers didn't like Redfall, but I thought it was good. Played the game all the way through. Thought it was a solid 8. But I also went in with very low expectations.
So what happens to the poor souls that bought the delux edition? Refund?
@Rmg0731 Yes, kindof, they've already said they will credit the difference between the main game and deluxe or expansion. But credit isn't the same as a refund as you can only spend it on their store.
Don’t preorder games or buy any additional content day one. None of these companies deserve your money.
@Fenbops
I stopped buying games day one years ago. The turning point was when Rocksteady shipped Batman Arkham City. Got 12 hours into the game and my game save corrupted. A day later they announced it was a bug.
Games ship on day one as alphas or betas at best now-a-days. If the game catches on the companies do what it takes to make them full and proper games. If they don't do well, they just shutdown the studios and quit supporting the game.
I really want to like modern games, but more and more the companies are turning me off of the industry.
Look ma, more Bethesda incompetence!!!
When do we get the news story that ALL Bethesda senior management has been fired???
Did they ever deliver the offline play mode?
Honestly, I would be demanding refunds, not "offers".
@Romans12 same here. I had a great time with the game.
@Kooky_Geezer Redfall didn't just flop (deservedly), it decimated the studio. Much of the Prey team left during Redfall's development.
I really liked the game... I was waiting for the dlc to play it again...
This was a terrible game that never got any better and I truly have pity for anyone who physically purchased this dud and/or paid for the season pass or one of the Xbox controllers.
This was the right move this Studio is terrible and I hope this is a stain on their records and it keeps them away from other major titles.
@GeorgeKal
What did you like about it? I am genuinely curious
@ZuneTattooGuy i like fps games in general. The story wasn't bad so why would i not like it? I had fun either playing alone or coop, the only real problem i had was the 30fps only because it was a first person game.
@GeorgeKal
There was a story? I hated the mechanics and the choppy framerate, lack of textures didn't help
@ZuneTattooGuy there wasn't a choppy framerate even day one when i played it. At least not on the series x version i played Off course it wasn't a platform seller but it was a good game for me, played about 50-60h. If it wasn't a first party game after a dry period there wouldn't be so much hate.
