As part of this year's Dragon Quest Day celebrations, Square Enix has shared an update on its next major entry Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate.
After some concerns were raised about the status of this project, it seems progress is still moving along - with the series creator Yuji Horii providing a brief update on social media (thanks, Gematsu):
"There has been some worry about Dragon Quest XII, but I was actually in a meeting [about it] until just a bit ago."
Unfortunately, he still can't share "any details" just yet, but has mentioned how it is going to be something "worthy of posthumous work of the two [Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama] who passed away".
Toriyama (known for creating Dragon Ball) was the artist on the series, and Sugiyama was the composer.
Since its original announcement in May 2021, there have been very few updates about this new Dragon Quest entry, which will apparently feature "darker" themes compared to previous titles.
There are also no updates on the release date or platforms this game will be made available on.
This news follows on from an update about Dragon Quest III HD-2D, confirming an Xbox release is on the way.
