Update (Fri 5th Jul, 2024): If you haven't claimed it yet, this weekend is your last chance to grab three free months of Apple TV+. All you need to do is follow the instructions below - make sure you get it before July 7th!
Original story (Fri 19th Apr, 2024): Xbox and Apple have announced today that a new free trial for Apple TV+ is now available, and you can redeem it from today until July 7th, 2024. The offer provides three free months of access, and it includes the entire library of content.
To sign up, you'll need to head to the official Apple TV app on your Xbox (search for it on the Microsoft Store by pressing the "Y" button and typing "Apple TV"). When it starts up, you should see the free trial offer on the front page - if you don't, it's probably because it's not applicable in your region unfortunately.
From here, the steps should look something like this:
- Hit the 3-Month Free Trial button
- Use the QR code to create or sign into your account on another device
- Accept the offer for 3 free months by hitting "Subscribe"
- Return to the app to begin watching your content
Surprisingly, this does work for "qualified" returning Apple TV+ subscribers as well! I personally haven't had an Apple TV+ subscription in months, and I managed to get the trial via this method. You may run into an issue where it tells you you've already used your free trial, but if that's the case, go back to the app and try again until it (hopefully) works.
"All you need to do is sign up for a new or qualified returning Apple TV+ subscription on your Xbox before July 7, 2024, and you’ll get 3 months of Apple TV+ for free. No strings attached, no hidden fees, just unlimited entertainment at your fingertips."
This is a really nice bonus ahead of the weekend, and it's particularly interesting that it's not included with the Xbox Game Pass Perks program for April. This is simply open to everyone in an applicable region, so it should prove popular.
Just remember - if you don't want to keep it, make sure you unsubscribe before the end of the trial!

To elaborate a bit, when I originally tried to sign into the Apple TV+ app on Xbox with my existing account, the browser version on my desktop told me that I'd already "used" my free trial and I would have to pay full price at £8.99 per-month.
However, when I went back to the Xbox app that I'd now signed into successfully, I hit the 3-month trial button on the Apple TV+ homepage, and this time it gave me the option to activate the free trial. Second time's the charm, I guess!
So yeah... it does work for me at least, but be careful you don't sign up for a paid subscription accidentally.
This is well worth checking out. I got 6 months free sub with my PS5 and still subbed after it expired. Shows you should check out - Severance, Slow horses, Silo, Bad Sisters, Ted Lasso - to name but a few. There’s lots of good stuff on there now.
Sweet I can rewatch Monarch and Prehistoric Planet!
Thanks for the heads up Fraser 👍
Can confirm it works!
some really good stuff on apple tv Black bird was amazing
I tried this last time.
It sucked.
Most of it was trailers.
@Spider-Kev fairly certain you can just use a paypal now because I don't have a cc and I did get to claim a 3 month apple trial.
Also actually lots of content on it now, a lot of it great as well.
Thanks for the reminder and on what steps to take to claim the free 3 months. I thought I had lost out when it wasn’t appearing in the perks section. I actually got the 3 months trial despite already having an account and using a free trial from when I first signed up.
I claimed it just now. Says I have apple TV+ free trial until 5th October. Doesn't let me watch anything 😂 unless I pay for apple TV+
Maybe it takes a minute for the sub to kick in or something
Ok I uninstalled it, reinstalled it and logged in again. It asked me if I wanted to start my trial on the actual app so I said yes and now I have access to all the content!
To me Apple TV has almost no value. Even if it's "free" I don't use it or see anything on the service I want to watch.
Apple promoting itself to Microsoft fans. That's a new one 😆
It's rather curious that the 90 day Apple TV+ trial is now gone from other platforms. 90 day used to be the norm, and now it's only available on Xbox.
