Xbox has been busy making various changes to Microsoft Rewards over the past week-or-so, and although the program has suffered as a result in some ways, we've at least got a new method of earning points via a "Weekly Console Bonus".
This has now started to appear for Microsoft Rewards users in multiple regions, offering 250 points per-week for playing a game on an Xbox console across five days - and that figure goes up to 275 points if you're an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member. Here's a quick look at it from an XGP Ultimate perspective:

As mentioned, this is the first time multiple regions have received access to the Weekly Console Bonus through Microsoft Rewards, but it's actually been running throughout most of 2024 for some Xbox users - and since then the amount of points you can earn has been reduced from 500 points per-week to 275 points per-week.
Still, this is a nice and easy way to earn 1000 Microsoft Rewards points (or more) for just playing games on your Xbox console, and hopefully we'll have more offers like this to take advantage of throughout the spring, summer and beyond.
Have you just started seeing this, or has it been working for you since January? Tell us down below.

It's certainly a welcome addition, although it doesn't make up for everything that was taken. It's just slowing me down to get Cyberpunk entirely with points, which in the grand scheme of things is fine. My backlog is already bursting at the seams. 🤣
This is a bit of a bone thrown, but MS rewards aren't what they used to be sadly. More grinding to get points, and they just aren't worth what they used to be.
More important question is when will Microsoft start to support this in more countries...
I've been receiving this for some time, but it was 250 a week and another 250 for being an Ultimate subscriber. Now it's 250 a week and 25 for being an Ultimate subscriber. 500 down to 275 a week hurts. At least I'm still getting the 100, 500, and 1000 monthly for the daily and weekly quests.
I'm glad for the changes getting an achievement every day was annoying I never earned near 500 a week so I'm earning more myself now
This would be great if the system actually recognised when you played on console. I've played every day this week but it's only recognised Monday.
I'm actually saving up points for shadow of the erdtree expansion. Should be on track for it being free.
@Spaceman-Spiff yeah I've noticed this as well the system is very slow to update for whatever reason. Usually takes hours to register from my experience
@Blaa I saved up enough points to be able to buy Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth right before launch. Only had to pay $5 out of pocket for the Ultimate Edition, which was over $100. Great use of rewards points as that game is amazing.
@PhileasFragg Agree 110%
Saving up for BG3 and DD2 and any left over for Cyberpunk … just need BG3 to go on sale …. Please
I’m not gonna get upset over free money 🤣
Honestly even though it’s less, I enjoy that you now get points for playing any game. Even though I have gsmepass, I don’t always play those games (past month been bouncing between Infinite Wealth (best it), OG FF7 and now Dragons Dogma 2).
What’s the maximum you can get in a month now? Is it enough to pay for GPU?
I just get 5-20 points a day from opening the xbox app on my phone. And sometimes another 20 if I'm playing a game on steam.
The Rewards tab on the console has never worked for me 😐
well, sure, but 'play with friends on pc' gave us 7500 per month.
I'm guessing more stuff will appear on Tuesday, or the May refresh when the rewards app has been closed.
@electrolite77 it should, or you'll be off by a couple of days, A week at the most. not too bad if you ask me.
After 2023's nerfs, I'm not surprised that the bonus is gone. MS Rewards is still generous enough to pay for a month of Gamepass Ultimate per month. You can even skip that boring Jewel game and get enough points.
I'm still getting 500 a week
As the kind of user who would max out point redemption by June every year .. this isn't so bad. Yeah it's less but you can still earn more than you can spend so it's not as big a deal as it may appear and it's still way better than Sonys rewards program
@CutchuSlow the steam one is because you played a PC game. MS doesn't really care how just that you play one
Huge nips = huge grips
shout out Microsoft
I was getting 180+ per day just on the Xbox mobile app before the nerf, so 275 per week doesn’t seem quite so exciting…
Just to try it, I did rewards to get a 3 month GPU subscription "for free" twice in a row but its just not worth the work you have to put in imo. So from last month I only bother with the really easy rewards, basically what you get from playing and I also try to remember using Bing instead of Google
@cardcrusher29 Out of interest what are you doing to get enough points for GPU every month? Last year I gave it a real good shot with the bing daily crap, logging into Xbox app and playing my Xbox regularly (albeit not every day) and it still took months to save up what I needed.
Dunno about anyone else, but I’ve got addicted to MS Jewel 2! My best score is 99,000,000.
Seeing as though we need five out of seven days for playing on console, it really should be reliable. And at the moment it really isn’t 😩
@electrolite77 It's got to enough, I don't need Game Pass at the moment as I'm two years ahead and about to get it as free add on with my mobile.
I get an Amazon voucher on or around the 5th, 25th and the 15th, which is more than Game Pass.
@GeeEssEff
-Daily desktop and mobile bing searches while watching tv/news/youtube
-Additional points (click) on desktop and mobile bing
-Mobile xbox app checkin
The last part is the easiest since there are tons of Gamepass games and I have a TA achievement streak to tend to. I would have done a daily cheevo even if no points were given.
Even with the 2023 nerfs and now gone bonuses, I averaged around 14,000 points when a 1 month GPU autoredeem is 10,500 points. I don't do Jewel game because even the solitaire collection is more entertaining .
TBH, I would not do the boring mobile/desktop searches if I were not passively "watching" the news, youtube, or tv in general. BTW the pc game is now worth only 20 points. I only do it out of habit and primarily to check the xbox/gamepass desktop app for games/updates.

Thanks 😊
