Almost exactly a year on from the PC launch, System Shock Remake will finally come to Xbox. Announced today by publisher Prime Matter, Nightdive Studios will be ready to unleash the console version of its classic remake on May 21st, 2024.
As a precursor to the legendary Bioshock, System Shock is an old school immersive sim from the '90s that never made its way to console in any fashion. Last year's PC remake was very well received too, so we're glad to see the series make its Xbox debut in just a couple of months.
Here's what to expect from Nightdive's conversion of System Shock:
"System Shock is the fully fledged remake of the ground breaking original from 1994, combining cult gameplay with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface and all-new sounds & music; it even has the original voice actor of SHODAN, one of gaming’s most iconic villains.
Witness the rebirth of one of the greatest and most influential games ever created."
This new version of System Shock will be a cross-gen release, so it's probably best not to expect cutting edge next-gen visuals here. The tech behind the remake will of course be a huge upgrade over the original though, and we're excited to find out how the game fares on console this May.
