It was back in January that PDP announced a brand-new guitar controller for Xbox (along with PC and PlayStation 5) that would work with Rock Band 4 and eventually Fortnite Festival, and it's almost ready to hit the market.
Pre-orders are live at various retailers, with the price set as £129.99 / $129.99 / €149.99. That might sound expensive, but the initial previews suggest this'll be the best guitar we've ever seen on Xbox, so let's hope that's the case!
Here's a list of just some of the features included with the Riffmaster on Xbox:
- Compatible with Rock Band 4 with anticipated compatibility with Fortnite Festival as soon as Rock Band 4 guitars are supported
- Officially licensed by Xbox
- 30-foot low latency wireless connection with built-in, rechargeable battery for up to 36-hours of play time per charge allows you to play comfortably on the couch
- Unique design that is suitable for both left and right handed players
- Turn it up to 11 with the 3.5mm audio jack, and adjust volume on-the-fly with the audio controls located on the D-pad
- Includes a built-in, patented pending, guitar analog stick, shoulder strap for elevated comfort, and guitar is collapsible for easy storage
Better yet, the press material we've received for the Riffmaster suggests the Xbox version will also work on PC, so if you're someone who enjoys the likes of Clone Hero, this should do the job nicely on that game as well.
As mentioned, pre-orders are live at a variety of retailers already, and PDP's store was temporarily offering a special Limited Edition Pickguard for the first 500 preorders, but those sold out almost immediately.
In terms of the release date, PDP only says "April" for now, although it appears to be April 24th. Rock on!
