It's been a very long time since we've been treated to new guitar controllers for Rock Band 4, but that's exactly what's been revealed today by PDP in the form of the Riffmaster, which is coming to market at some point this spring.
The guitar was first unveiled by IGN, who highlighted some of the main features such as up to 36 hours of battery life, a included audio jack, a built-in thumbstick for improved navigation, a detachable pickguard which apparently will be used to customise your guitar in the future, and of course, the confirmation that it's wireless!
The intent with the Riffmaster is not only for it to be used with Rock Band 4, but also the recent release of Fortnite Festival which will be adding guitar support at some point in the near future. There's no launch date or even a price estimate for this new controller just yet, so hopefully we'll find out more over the next few weeks.
You can check out some hands-on footage of the Riffmaster down in the video below. When it arrives, it'll work across Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and there's even a suggestion it might work on PC as well.
Will you be picking up a Riffmaster for Rock Band or Fortnite Festival on Xbox? Tell us in the comments.

I need this in my life. Is there a price for it in the video? I can’t watch now because of work.
I don't know who the guy presenting in the above video is, but I found him informative and amusing! Looking forward to finding out how much the guitar is as I am very interested in buying it. Never been very good at these types of games, but would be very much up for improving my lot!
I wonder if it would work with something like Hi-Fi Rush... 😜
No price revealed, @somnambulance. Just said sometime in the future...
Excellent. I still have three plastic guitars for these games (and two real ones), but Im tempted to look at this one. Playing two player with my wife is a lot of fun!
The guitar bundles for RB4, that included the $60 game and a guitar, retailed for $130. PDP's own Fender Jaguar controller for RB4 retailed for $90. If I were a betting man, I would wager these end up splitting the difference and landing somewhere in the $100-$120 range, which is a little pricy for such a niche item...but, it's also the only way to get a NEW guitar controller for a somewhat reasonable price, and if it's fully compatible with Clone Hero, that's a steal.
Just take my money now. Will get a couple to ensure I can continue to play Rock Band for along time to come.
Awesome. I’m hoping this will work across both XBOX and PC, but even if not it’s not a huge loss. It would be awesome to play Rock Band 4 and I’d even give Fortnite Festival a go.
Also hoping this is reasonably priced. I don’t want to drop more than $70 for a controller but I have a feeling it’ll be more lol.
Guitar hero remake confirmed! 😂😂
How many guitar heroes/ rock bands are bc? That and pc support will determine if I buy this.
@PhilKenSebben Rock Band 4 is the only playable RB on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. It has a massive DLC library of stuff that goes back to the RB1 era though.
Guitar Hero Live was on Xbox One as well, but it had a unique controller design so it wouldn't work with this.
@FraserG Appreciate the information.
Awesome to see these again, but I do worry how long Fortnite Festival will be around for as while it was SUPER popular when it first released the player count has dropped significantly since then.
Considering it needs an influx of new songs (they're adding a couple a week right now), and licencing costs for the music, and specific devs for that mode I do wonder if it'll stick around.
I know they are ending it but will all current rock band dlc be available to buy for a while?
