Activision CEO Namedrops Guitar Hero While Discussing Xbox Takeover's 'Unlimited Potential'

We're getting closer and closer to a final decision being made on Xbox's takeover of Activision Blizzard, and assuming everything goes to plan, the acquisition could finally become a reality in the next few days.

Ahead of that point, details from a recent internal Activision Blizzard meeting have been shared by Windows Central, including some quotes from Activision CEO Bobby Kotick about the future of the business as part of Xbox.

In a nutshell, Kotick is very excited about the "unlimited potential" of working with Microsoft, pointing out that it'll be great to "tap into their AI, machine learning capability, the data analytics, new ways of of thinking about graphics".

Interestingly, he namedropped Guitar Hero during this part of the discussion as well:

"The re-emergence of Guitar Hero and other things would not be possible without the different types of resources."

Kotick is clearly interested in reviving the Guitar Hero series under Xbox's leadership, as he also referenced it back in January 2022 as something he'd wanted to bring back for a while, along with a reboot for the Skylanders series.

Ultimately though, the ball is going to be in Microsoft's court moving forward, and it'll be up to Phil Spencer and his team about whether bringing back some of these classic franchises is the right idea. That's if the acquisition goes through, of course!

If you're interested, you can check out a few more quotes from the recent Activision Blizzard internal meeting in the Windows Central report, and hopefully we'll have more details to share when a decision is made very soon...
