Today's State of Unreal event has brought us the announcement of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra along with a Story Trailer and release window of 2025. No platforms have been revealed yet, but we're certainly hoping it comes to Xbox!
The game, which is being developed by Amy Hennig's Skydance New Media, is described as a "story-driven WW2 era Marvel action-adventure" title. Hennig also appeared at the show to confirm that everything you see in the Story Trailer is captured from the game itself, with "no smoke and mirrors" on display.
"People might not think this, but this isn't some custom demo that we made just for this show. That's our game. All the sequences you just saw in that trailer are all pulled right out of our game, running real-time on Unreal Engine 5. No smoke and mirrors."
Obviously we've yet to see any gameplay for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra yet, but this first look is a very impressive teaser for what's to come. If you want to see a longer breakdown, you'll find it in the extended presentation down below.
We're also excited just because Amy Hennig is involved here! She was one of the masterminds behind the Uncharted series on PlayStation, and also served as a director on the likes of Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver 2 and Jak 3.
"In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy. Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris, they must join forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra."
