Today's State of Unreal event has brought us the announcement of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra along with a Story Trailer and release window of 2025. No platforms have been revealed yet, but we're certainly hoping it comes to Xbox!
The game, which is being developed by Amy Hennig's Skydance New Media, is described as a "story-driven WW2 era Marvel action-adventure" title. Hennig also appeared at the show to confirm that everything you see in the Story Trailer is captured from the game itself, with "no smoke and mirrors" on display.
"People might not think this, but this isn't some custom demo that we made just for this show. That's our game. All the sequences you just saw in that trailer are all pulled right out of our game, running real-time on Unreal Engine 5. No smoke and mirrors."
Obviously we've yet to see any gameplay for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra yet, but this first look is a very impressive teaser for what's to come. If you want to see a longer breakdown, you'll find it in the extended presentation down below.
We're also excited just because Amy Hennig is involved here! She was one of the masterminds behind the Uncharted series on PlayStation, and also served as a director on the likes of Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver 2 and Jak 3.
"In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy. Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris, they must join forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra."
What do you make of this trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra? Tell us in the comments down below.

YES!!! Give me all the Marvel games, movies and TV shows!!!! Hopefully this comes to Xbox and Playstation and is in fact a single player action adventure game that is just like the Spider man games on PS.
Could be good hopefully it will be more single player non open world games please
This game looks insane. But I am sure running on a high-end PC really helps with the look.
Not saying the console versions will be degraded significantly, but with UE5, it's always a gamble how they will turn out at launch.
I don't get the hype for games that don't show gameplay.
Welp they got my attention. (I still want somebody to make an Agents of Shield game though)
if it's similar to guardians of the galaxy I'm in!
Would have been far more excited if it was Gears 6. That’s gears of war franchise in case anyone has forget or to young to remember, was around about 5 years ago 😂
Looks good from a graphics standpoint, but I won’t get hyped for it until I see gameplay.
At some point killing Nazis is going to feel old… maybe … feels like Marvel Wolfenstein
Let’s get some games where we fight commies
Didn't Wolverine fight with Cap in WW2? Or are they not going to include him because of that weird clause with Sony? Assuming it comes to Xbox.
Not a single frame of gameplay.
@Ryu_Niiyama How would you pitch an Agents of Shield game? What genre? I enjoyed the show plenty but I can't think of a good game idea right now. XCom-like?
@Scummbuddy I can only see it from a tell tale style. Maybe. Idk actually. Would really be hard to do.
This looks great. Love captain, love the era, so this'll be right up my alley.
@Scummbuddy I think there are a lot of genres it can slot into, a tactical shooter like the old rainbow six games, a spy/infiltration similar to splinter cell or tenchu, a co-op dungeon crawler (make tech or freeing hostages a reward) as they evacuate areas or lead assaults on villains and maybe even call in some heroes as a superpower/air support. SHIELD and its spin offs deal with prevention or the stuff the heroes can’t get to so there are lots of ways to make that work I feel. Xcom style could be fun as well. If people can make a million war and james bond games, I am sure someone can do something with SHIELD.
@AlwaysPlaying Killing Nazis never gets old.
I love 1940's Captain America! ...and the Black Panther parts are looking pretty cool in this too

Oh snap. Apparently Firaxis thought of an Agents of Shield game when Marvel came to them about having Firaxis use their XCom engine and insight into making a Marvel game, which became Midnight Suns.
"Long story short, Marvel approached us—they loved XCOM 2 and asked if we'd be interested in making a squad-based tactics game using the Marvel superheroes," he said. After toying with the idea of an Agents of SHIELD game, Firaxis decided it wouldn't be as fun to see characters like Spider-man pop up in the game every once in a while; players would want to control the heroes themselves. And if your squad is made up of superheroes and not flesh and blood normies, most of XCOM's mechanics—permadeath, fragile soldiers, RNG accuracy—just wouldn't work.
