In the few days since Arkane Lyon officially revealed its upcoming Blade game we've been keen to see more, and today we're in luck! Arkane dev Sebastien Mitton has just shared some gorgeous concept art for the game - our first look at the title outside of its Game Awards reveal.
In total there are three bits of official artwork here, showcasing the city of Paris in a suitably stylised manner. It's all looking quite 'Arkane' so far in the best way possible, with a bit of Marvel flavour of course!
We're very excited to see this one in action when the team is ready to show it off, we must admit. Deathloop went down very well indeed and we're confident Arkane Lyon is a great team to make a Blade game.
In terms of when and how this one will release - that's all up in the air at the minute. It looks quite early-on in development right now, and there are still questions as to whether it'll be an Xbox exclusive or not. Time will tell in the run up to release, we suppose!

Hyped for Arkane's take on 'Blade'? Bring it on, we say!

It's going to look like Deathloop in terms of art style if I had to guess.
It's concept art, while I kinda like it I don't think it will look anything like these. Even the teaser trailer was completely different
All I'm saying is I'm pretty hype. And anyone here that knows me knows that isn't my M.O.
Loved the old movies and comic. And playing through Midnight Suns has relit my love for Blade. Really hope they don't drop the ball with this like their last couple projects.
That was my thoughts exactly, @GhanaViking. Very Deathloop. Not sure how I feel about that though. I'd prefer the game to have its own identity, though it is just concept art, so things probably will change...
@CharlieChooChoo it's concept art. This is not indicative of final design. If you go back to games like Bioshock Infinite for example, where the concept art is well documented and posted in a way that's available, you'll see just how much these things change. But you're right, gameplay is by far the most important feature to focus on. Reserve judgement until that comes out I'd say.
Huh, @InterceptorAlpha? Their last two projects were Deathloop and Dishonoured. They were pretty well received...
@Fiendish-Beaver Redfall and Deathloop.
The former being a well known failure and the latter sitting at a 66 on metacritic.
@InterceptorAlpha redfall was Arkane austin. Prey was their project before that.
@BacklogBrad Arkane is Arkane. Austin is a subsidiary wholly managed by Lyon and everything they do is approved by Lyon. They don't work wholly independently from one another. They can work on separate projects, and one do the majority of the work, but at the end of the day Lyon has final say.
@InterceptorAlpha why stop there? Bethesda is Bethesda. Xbox is xbox.
Blade is first and foremost a comic book character, so the art style that Arkane Studios is known for fits very well for a superhero videogame. It's funny that most superhero videogames try to look like live-action movies instead.
@BacklogBrad Prey is awesome, by the way. In my opinion Redfall did not fail because Arkane Austin is not a good game developer. I think the problem with Redfall is because it started as a live-service videogame, following the footsteps of Fallout 76 and Wolfenstein: Young Blood, but they pivoted midway through development to a co-op looter shooter, which was not their element either.
Hopefully it's done well and enjoyable to play all you can really ask will leave everyone else to argue about the resolution/fps is that not the most important thing nowadays to most people
@RazputinAquato I also like Arkane austin and kind of liked redfall. I think their biggest problem was marketing. They shouldn't have billed it as the next huge game and not tried to distance itself from left 4 dead comparisons. In the end it was closer to L4D than their Far Cry claims. In a vacuum of recent co op shooters (left 4 blood, borderlands 3, zombie army, outriders, etc) redfall is decent.
@RazputinAquato Totally agree. Personally i'm not a fan of uber-realistic aesthetics when it comes to superhero games. I prefer Arkane's style, as seen in Dishonored/Deathloop, for a comic book hero even one as grim and gritty as Blade.
Very curious about this game. When it was first announced, I was wondering if Blade was big enough and relevant for today. Now I think it will be, especially if done right. Hope they see great success with this game.
Its very stylish, which I guess is to be expected. Im not immediately sure this style best coveys the gritty realism I tend to associate with the blade character, but it may grow on me and they may be taking his character to new places of course.
This Ip has a lot of potential... cant wait to see more.
I think Blade will become even more relevant to a new generation in 2025, @EvilSilentFrame, when the new film releases...
@Fiendish-Beaver I think so too. When I saw the trailer for the game, I didn’t know about the new movie coming at the time. I remember Blade from the late 90’s/early 00’s, but the younger generation like my kids have no clue who he is. The Marvel movies have done so well, I think this one will too.
Looks like a mobile game or game running on the switch
I loved the movies, but this is a Disney product in 2025+. Not hyped.
Maybe a strange question, but coming from somebody who knows very little about blade, what is his mode of transport?
Spidey has swinging, Batman has the cape glide (and batmobile) what does blade have? I seem to recall a motorbike but I might be mistaken.
I'm just wondering how you will get around in the game, which might give some idea as to the type of game this might be.
Despite what people are saying I think the new blade movie will be a disappointment.
I just don't see it being better than blade 1 or 2 and Mahershala Ali is poor substitute for Wesley Snipes.
If this is truly the cartoon look they're going for on the new game then I think I'll pass but I suppose there's plenty of time for improvement since this game won't release until at least 2028 anyway.
@NostromoXP Blade has a black Dodge charger but I think you're right and he has a motorbike as well.
not going to have hyped bc of the character or a teaser - same as i said for Wolverine but i do want to see how the devs going with their first third-person game, maybe im wrong but they mostly known for first person games.
its always nice to see a team going out of their usual box
@MrMagic people going to be thinking on the original movies so yes its going to be disappointing but i think its going to do well bc its a character people want to see so good or not its going to get a sequel.
i also think Ali is a good actor but not for this character
