It's been a difficult period for EA's Battlefield series since the arrival of Battlefield 2042. While the latest entry has drastically improved with multiple updates since its launch in 2021, there have still been several setbacks. Just last week, for example, EA shut down the dedicated Battlefield campaign studio Ridgeline Games.
Now, in an "exclusive" from Insider Gaming, it's claimed EA is set to bounce back with a new game supposedly set "somewhere around 2025 - 2030" and apparently featuring 64-player matches, a four-class system, and a destruction system overhaul.
Most interestingly, Ripple Effect studio is also supposedly crafting a "new experience" which is claimed to be a "free-to-play battle royale" title, that will run alongside the premium version of the game, similar to Activision's methods with Call of Duty.
EA's CEO Andrew Wilson previously suggested the next major Battlefield game probably wouldn't show up until 2025, with Insider Gaming further claiming it has a "tentative target release date of October".
