Of all the companies we thought might show up at the Xbox Developer Direct 2024, Square Enix wasn't one of them! Nevertheless, that's exactly what happened, and we got a closer look at the upcoming Visions of Mana in the process.
In typical "Developer Direct" style, the team behind this new action RPG provided some behind-the-scenes insights as well as revealing all-new gameplay footage, and we also got a release window of Summer 2024.
When it releases later this year, Visions of Mana will be available for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (no word on Game Pass), but it's not an exclusive, so you'll also be able to pick it up on PC, PS5 and even PS4 as well.
"A new adventure begins in Visions of Mana – the first mainline title in the Mana series in over 15 years!
Immerse yourself in the vibrant graphics of this beautiful world, where the powers of nature blend with the elemental aspects of mana to create a rich tapestry of life. Journey through enchanting locations with near-seamless transitions in a semi-open field that’s yours to discover. Brace yourself for fast-paced, multi-dimensional actions in battle to enrich your fighting experience."

Love the mana series, so I'm all in.
I’m happy to see the relationship between Square Enix and Microsoft getting stronger, but this title felt underwhelming in comparison to the rest of the games shown. No doubt it will be good and fans of the Mana series will eat it up. Will be watching for updates over the coming months.
@Kaloudz I'm just waiting patiently for the fabled FF7 remake to hit xbox. That's my most anticipated SE game on xbox, or even switch. I'll take what I can get at this point as long as it's not a cloud version.
SE inclusion in the DD was quite unexpected, but I loved seeing more of Visions of Mana. Looking forward to summer 2024 🤙 and hopefully a few more surprises from SE/Xbox
@DJKingaling Seriously 😳 don’t know how you got that by the censors but love that acronym….
Does this mean we can stop with the persecution complex that "Square hates Xbox?"
Nice gesture but imo the game looked piss poor.
I hope this is on Gamepass. The Mana remakes have been sort of iffy to the point that they sort of made me wonder if they weren’t as good as I remembered the original games being. I hope this one hits Secret of Mana SNES tier quality.
N that is why Foam Stars will be on Xbox in 6 months.
@somnambulance Doesn't look like it, but if you like it or it looks good to you, then just buy it. You save a ***** load from Game Pass , so you can buy some games too.
@Stoned_Patrol I definitely buy games. I buy enough games where I’m grateful Gamepass exists because it saves money on all those Xbox exclusives. Lol. But Mana, I’ll buy if it has intriguing reviews.
@Kaloudz yeah I hope so too. The way square chooses systems to release on is odd though. Mana collection? Switch. Secret of mana remake? Ps4. Weird.
All i care about. The ONLY things I care about, are those plushies behind him. Namely the lil cactus and Flammie.

@Mephisto2869 people responding to an article ain't begging. People petitioning is begging 😂😂😂 remember when PS fanboys did that to get Starfield a PlayStation exclusive.
@Kaloudz we are getting octopath 2 on xbox, oddly enough I don't think ps4 ever got the first game.

@Kaloudz PlayStation got the 2nd one already, just not the first that's correct. This looks like straight Mana, and I'm all for it! Glad to see the SE/Xbox relationship flourishing now after those rocky times, but i suppose a new man in charge will do that. Of course, the usual trolls and negative people on here will downplay it, as they always do.
@Kaloudz no they are not. Both games have the 8 characters which each one having their own stories, and the second one having 8 different characters.
Now, there is a super boss in the first one that is basically a side quest that is supposed to tie all 8 of those characters together and that same super boss returns in part 2 that also loosely ties the first game to the second i believe but the main characters are all independent and unique so no need to play 1 before 2 or anything.
These games are massive, however. To beat all 8 stories in the first one it took me like 65 hours, and it will be similar with part 2. Don't get me started on leveling for the super boss, I wasn't gonna put another 10 in getting prepared for that.
@LuciaThicc Wrong, there's obviously a huge crowd and tons of people willing to double dip for FFVII Remake on Xbox

@Kaloudz also, it would be nice if square released the bravely default series from 3ds on current systems. It perfected the job system from ffv.
@Kaloudz it's definitely not easy imo, but it depends how you build your jobs around each character. If you can have a good set-up it wont be as bad but if not you will have a much harder time, at least that's how i saw the first game. I still beat it twice, but have my reservations of putting 65 hours into a game these days. Hard to find the time.
@Kaloudz Yeah i'm not sure how prevalent grinding is for this game, because like i said, how you customize jobs to your characters is the important stuff. That and you want good equipment.
@Kaloudz Jobs are the class types used and the abilities you can acquire, basically like Final Fantasy 5.
@Kaloudz My first was the original, and Ive played each in succession (aside from 2-3 which didn't come to the US until much later). I've had the pleasure of seeing the evolution from the beginning.
