![Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty DLC Is A Multi-Million Seller Already](https://images.purexbox.com/4c53063588d99/cyberpunk-2077s-phantom-liberty-dlc-is-a-multi-million-seller-already.900x.jpg)
September's Phantom Liberty DLC pack was something of a revival for CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077 - we loved our time with the add-on and felt that it finally realised the team's vision for the title. Most other critics generally seemed to get on well with the expansion, and as it turns out, it's done very well commercially too.
The team has posted that in 2023 alone — so between September when the DLC launched and the end of last year — Phantom Liberty has shifted five million units. Five million - for a DLC!
Around a year prior to Phantom Liberty's launch, the dev announced that the base game has surpassed 20 million units, and we can only imagine that the title has gone on to sell much more than that in the months since. Despite a rough launch for the game in late 2020, the team has certainly managed to turn things around - and fans seem to be enjoying CP77 much more in 2023.
Anyway, congrats to the team here - this is a huge milestone for an expansion and we're glad the game has finally lived up to the hype!
Surprised to see this number of DLC sales already? Or is the DLC that good that this number is a no-brainer? Tell us your thoughts down below.

Its great dlc and all....but whats weird is most of award givers and websites is treating it as a new game!!!! And mke it a contender with best games of the year! Why?
Very impressive, also well deserved.
I consider this to be right up there with with the Blod and Wine DLC, one of the best ever.
On different note, DF has run some benchmarks and it turns out CDPR have somehow managed to make the game run significantly worse(on the more powerful console no less ) , than it does on the PS5🤦♂️😂.
@TakeItEasy The gameplay has been completely revamped since launch. Other than the story being the same the same it would be worth a whole new playthrough, it feels like a new experience. The poll in this article hints pretty hard at this.
@TakeItEasy yeah that is weird. The Game Awards also had it as "best ongoing game" which doesnt even make sense since it wasnt a games as a service type game lol. I'd play through it again as it looked great but i played the original to death back in early 2021 so kinda got burned out on it.
I found it quite boring, even after the 2.0 update. It just isn't an interesting game, and calling it an RPG is suffering from terminal delusion. Overall, it's an overrated studio with a huge circlejerk community around it. Sorry for being mean, but that's just the tea.
@iplaygamesnstuff
But after all its a dlc ? Its not a new game
@TakeItEasy It may as well be. It's not the same game from launch. You can get most of the newer features with the 2.0/2.1. Phantom Liberty is such an overhaul that it can't even be played on the PS4 or Xbox One systems. I personally think and stated before that the content changed soo much it's worth a second playthrough. Even if you don't buy the Phantom Liberty DLC. Nobody said it was a new game.
@iplaygamesnstuff but its still a dlc (downloadable content) ? There is no grey area here its a clear question that need a clear answare its either black or white
Its not like oh this not a smart tv but if you have a smart box its technically a smart tv
@Kaloudz Yes and yes? However the Witcher expansions are cheap now and then Cyberpunk all inclusive super deal next year after you are done?
