Xbox Series X|S Gets Huge UK Sales Boost Thanks To Black Friday 2023

Amazing what happens when you make a generous price cut to the consoles...Albeit a temporary one 🙂

They did ok ish in the UK, but need to do better and maintain those type of sales, through out the months, not just Black Friday.
Remember only 4% on November 2022 when they had zero games released that year and the console didn’t get reduced to as low as £360 series x.

Reads waaay better before you open the linked article and see PS5 is up 129% compared to November 2022. I would have expected more given how heavily discounted Series consoles were.

Xbox will get there. Not this complete generation but in a year or two and onwards.

@Friendly the UK isn’t the land of PlayStation, in fact it is one of the closer markets.

Good to see Xbox up. I’ve seen a lot more adverts on TV around it since the start of December.

I’m ok if they use the rewards points they clawed back from us to pay for advertising… but rewarding 2 points for doing a ten question quiz, is a bit Scrooge like…

Yes the UK apart from the USA maybe the second closet market for Xbox against PlayStation.
It’s only when you include the whole of Europe the gap really favours PlayStation.

It was the xbox360 era that did it for Xbox in the UK really.

@AlwaysPlaying I just click in the quiz and back out and get the points. I only to the daily set quiz as it's the mandatory one. But yeah.... rewards points are going to disappear in a year or two at this rate so use em while we got em

@Cikajovazmaj Sony has been selling their console cheap most months since June onwards in the UK, Microsoft kept theirs at normal price.

Xbox really just need to do a premiant price cut. Neither console is worth their current price. Xbox need to realize they aren't a premiere console brand and need to target a lower price bracket. Drop the Series X under $400 and be done with it.

I'm one of the new additions to the community. It's been pretty great switching between my Xbox and PlayStation, I'm also subbed to both Gamepass and Premium...with those two subscriptions I really have no need to buy any other games. Truth be told gaming has never been cheaper for me.

199 for s model 512gb, 249 for 1tb s model, 349 series x. That's what the prices should be considering new models coming out and the s series being a lot less powerful.

But no one wants to buy a used 1 unless it's under 200£ for the series x. That's less than half for a new one at £480. I tried to sell mine a few months ago, I ended up deciding to keep it as no one wanted to buy it.

@ATaco that's if you're playing every game on there, then it'd be worth it. But if you're just playing 1 or 2 games, better to just buy those games and keep them forever.

That's exactly what I do, I actually try to get through every (or as many of) the "leaving soon" games before they exit the service. I haven't bought a new game since Tears of the Kingdom forced me to on the switch (which is the only Switch game I've played all year). I'm really getting a ton of value out of the subscription services and am also discovering awesome new games I wouldn't have tried if I had to actually pay for them (Shout-out to chained echoes and before that Eastward!)

Not sure if Xbox can afford the hit, but leads me to think Xbox could do very well if against Sony if they decided to go for a price war. Undercut the PS5 by 100 everywhere, and see how that goesn!

It's almost as if all the big 3 are doing well.
