The GTA 6 trailer is officially here! You can watch it up above - and it confirms a release window of 2025.
Rockstar Games had originally intended to release the video on Tuesday, but with the trailer leaking earlier today on social media, the company decided to hit the button early and make it available on Monday evening instead.
It's been confirmed that GTA 6 will arrive on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in 2025, as well as PS5.

So maybe 31 December 2025...
It looked about 30fps, but maybe it is still too early or the leaked trailer wasn't full quality. Graphics were decent, but nothing mind blowing. Lots of variety in characters and attire, etc so that is cool. I'll be curious to learn more as we get closer to its release.

2025? Really? Looks great though. As expected.
Hopefully 2025 will be worth the wait. I did like the trailer.
Looks like it could be good. Really curious if GTA still holds up in 2025.
Wait, so it IS back in VICE CITY as speculated?
But, modern times?
Hmm.. I really enjoyed GTA Vice City, but a lot of that was due to the 80's vibe and soundtrack.
Oh well. Felt a little bit underwhelming, but probably just because I'm getting old. Will still give it a go in 2025.
@GrizzledVeteran Yeah it said Vice City in the trailer actually.
Thought it was Florida for a second because of the alligator entering the store.
@Reptilio Two main characters.
The Latina and the guy she was with.
@anoyonmus Vice city is based on Miami
Florida. Same how Liberty City is New York, New York, and Los Santos is Los Angeles, California.
That's why you see the gators and everglades, etc.
@GiveMeMoney Trailers are never indicative of game frame rate to begin with.
Releases in 2025? omg
Hopefully I survive 2024!.. My luck I'll get hit by a bus the day before it releases...
This looks embarrassingly bad. The graphics technology is nice - though I'd be interested to see if that reflects actual gameplay or is just cutscene spectacle.
Unfortunately, this clearly embraces the TikTok generation and hated everything I saw.
Get off my lawn!
Very strange thing to be allergic to. 🤔
After seeing the trailer I realised I might be too old for GTA.
All good except for ***** "2025"
The fact that it is over a year away over a year
I'm not getting excited YET
what we see now will be slightly different from the final product because its over a year and I'm guessing mid 2025 so really a year and a half
So this time next year in December 2024 I may be more excited about the game
Soooo many NPC’s!
I thought it looked good from a graphics perspective, but I’m someone who started in gaming in the Atari era, so I’m easily impressed. 😋
Not sure why they didn’t want to wait until the Game Awards, but I guess it didn’t matter since it was leaked. Looking forward to more information!
Day one GP? Sarcasm 😂
Everyone in the video looked super ugly! Even by GTA standards.
Where was the humor?
Where was the non-PC stuff?
ugh...
This IS NOT GTA!
Pretty cool, Doing modern day Vice City is an interesting choice. There’s going to be people happy with that but others not so much and probably would have loved them to go back to the 80’s. Think the 2 protagonists look good and it’s nice to see female one for the first time.
Let’s see what the other trailers end up looking like before we make our minds up and come to any conclusions only from this one. I’d say the only thing that bothers me is it’s not going to be released until 2025, and when exactly during that year also?
@Spider-Kev
They show that off in a second trailer. First GTA 5 trailer had also serious fibe.
That looks really good to me. Keep in mind there is a rumor that rockstar will get PS5 Pro dev kits for this to launch with. I know PS5 and not Series X Pro. But i am sure by 2025 this will look even better and PC and PS5 pro will probably be the best place it shines the brightest. I’ll still get it on Series X tho. Loved the first look.
Looks ok for a small trailer and not much detail.
Oh well that done, forget it now until 2025.
Lol the cliche hyperbole reaction from certain people...it looks soo bad from 1.30 of none gameplay ......ooooookay
April 8th 2025
Being able to finally run all these people over is going to be worth the price of this game alone. It looks so accurate to spring break in south beach, i cant wait.
@Reptilio She looks Puerto Rican aka US territory and he is probably white, don't really see the problem here and why that would ruin your fun
@Reptilio dare I ask why?
Rockstar did a good job of making a virtual Florida.
game looks trash so far 💩🗑️
Wow....this is what people are collectively losing their minds about........
While not for me I am glad there there is a female protagonist finally.
Absolute crap that it was leaked though. Some jobs…I wonder how people maintain their enthusiasm when others are out to ruin it.
Leaked? Sigh.
Anyway doesn’t tell us much but what’s there looks very good.
@InterceptorAlpha
Someone in the know, respect, thx
@Spider-Kev
Lol, That's just because you are a super white dude (profile pic). Blacks and Latinas have different tastes in attractiveness (generally speaking).
Looks good to me. Can’t get excited about something so far away. But it’s very good looking and it’s in Vice City. Looks cool!
Not sure what people expected. It looks like a modern GTA. Nothing mindblowing but still AAA.
I still consider RDR2 to be the absolute pinnacle of open world recreation bar none and its only fitting that it will be another R* made game to surpass it 😀. Looks fantastic.
I just hope R* will be satirising the s*it out of Ron d Santos and his policies, we should also get a mission in Texas to sabotage/ blow up the US.-Mexico border wall. Yep, f@ck bigotry....rant over.
Hard to judge anything going by the trailer apart from the graphics which look very nice. I just hope the humour, poking fun at everyone, is still there.
Sounds like she’s going to be going on a crime spree with Nathan Drake, that’s pretty wild.
@Fenbops
Sounds like she’s going to be going on a crime spree with Nathan Drake, that’s pretty wild
Well Nathan Drake definitely has form, he killed thousands over the 4 Uncharted games he starred in😂.
Doesn't give much away - as expected. I'll be more interested in seeing gameplay trailers sometime in 2030 LOL
Always thought this was 2025 at the earliest. You only have to go back in time to see Rockstar dropping GTA trailers for over a year. GTAV was almost 2 years.
Looks mighty impressive. But will be interesting to see if they actually manage that crowd density and variety in the real game, especially on console, or if like Cyberpunk it's an exaggeration of what we will get.
I think it looks absolutely amazing, it will no doubt be the best looking game of all time when it releases. The animations are so life-like and the density of the traffic and NPCs are seriously impressive, let’s hope it’s actually like that on consoles. I’m not a fan of all the TikTok-like posts and R* feeling the need to keep the series within todays real life trends but it’s GTA I’m always going to get it no matter what.
But 2025? That’s at least another year and a half of R* milking GTA Online, I’m honestly bored of it now that I’ve got everything I could want and still have millions left.
From the trailer at 1:05 was that an Online character? It certainly looked like it to me.
Super excited for this, the trailer looks amazing! Also great to see a female protagonist included
Yaay just have to wait now here comes the game of the generation!!
“ It's been confirmed that GTA 6 will arrive on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in 2025, as well as PS5.”
… can’t wait to play it on my shiny PS5 Pro 😉
@Dr_ENT I can see what your doing posting that on a dedicated Xbox site but your right in bringing it up because I game mainly on my Series X but if MS don’t bring something out to rival the PS5 Pro then I think I’d rather buy GTA VI for that to play it at its absolute best, achievements and the Xbox ecosystem won’t be enough to keep me playing it on Series X.
@MaccaMUFC
I game mainly on my Series X but if MS don’t bring something out to rival the PS5 Pro then I think I’d rather buy GTA VI for that to play it at its absolute best
I genuinely don't see Microsoft bringing a Pro version this gen. It makes no financial sense, the PS5 has reached that critical mass point and Sony will bank on its early adopters hardcore community to buy into such a device. Microsoft doesn't have that luxury, and that's unfortunate because I would probably get Series X Pro😁...
@Reptilio Yeah that's my problem too. The potential location of where the computer game character, played first person, is from geographically. Makes the gameplay incredibly different so I too will refuse to play it.
Release date will probably be Fall 2025, so almost two years away.
But i am sure by 2025 this will look even better and PC and PS5 pro will probably be the best place it shines the brightest
Definitely agree there, the trailer looked fantastic, perhaps bit too good for the current consoles.
I can also see Sony going for the stratospheric option and secure advertising rights for GTA6, that'll shift a few PS5 Pro's.
Looks typical of GTA and not something I'm particularly interested in from a Game-play perspective although obviously a leap in graphics as expected.
By GTA4, I lost interest in the IP and cannot stand GTA Online so I expect to give this a miss too, like GTA5...
Can't get excited for a trailer about a game that's not coming out until 2025.
@HonestHick @Sol4ris That's an interesting topic. Xbox One X launched the following year but it was much better built and powerful than PS4 Pro. Would Microsoft release a more powerful console after PS5 Pro or would they wait for the "next generation" console? I'm sure that they won't release new hardware before Sony but I don't know how long they'll wait.
@Banjo-
I just think that if Microsoft were/are planning a more beefier SeriesX it would have more or less been some mention in the leaked documents but so far it's just a revised version of the X. Compared to the PS5 Pro rumours/leaks which look like an open secret, even DF were discussing the specs an the code name for it a while back. Who knows, maybe Microsoft will spring a surprise but not holding my breath on that for sure.
Would Microsoft release a more powerful console after PS5 Pro or would they wait for the "next generation" console?
If Microsoft plan to release their next gen console before Sony, it would tally up with you question perfectly.
With that said the Series X will be in a tight spot when all future big third-party AAA games have 60fps as a base option on PS5 Pro but struggle or completely missing on the X.
@Reptilio
Why do you assume she's Mexican? There are a lot of South American countries. Something tells me your racist and sexist ways didn't know that.
@thebizniznizbiz
Would you rather they release it incomplete and buggy in 2024?
@Dr_ENT
If the PS5 Pro is as lackluster as the PS5 Slim I'll pass
@MaccaMUFC Phil Spencer has already said a Pro version of Series X isn't needed. On the other hand, it is almost guaranteed that Sony will release PS5 Pro next year.
A game this big definitely needs a pro console 🤗
@Reptilio You're one of those "go woke go broke" people aren't you.
@ZuneTattooGuy even if it is shaped as a P****. I will definitely get it. I care about how the game looks (and plays) on my screen. Nothing else.
@Banjo- Rumor has it they want to launch the next gen Xbox first. So some are thinking 2026 at the earliest. Could be smart. It worked for the 360. Get a year head start or longer if Sony misses their release window.
@ZuneTattooGuy If the PS5 Pro is as lackluster as the PS5 Slim I'll pass]
The rumored specs have it at 23TFLOPS and a new ray tracing tech built in so it’s looking like a winner and it’s scary cause MS is saying they are fine with the S/X. This GTA game is likely to sell 50 million or more copies in no time, and eyes will be looking at the best version on the PS5 Pro. That is not a good idea in my book for MS, but they have their plan and are sticking to it it seems.
@HonestHick Yea, I predict MS will simply start updating their hardware "generations" at a faster rate than competitors, allowing for full native backwards compatibility.
It has done no favors to MS to be on the same update cycle as PlayStation, if anything, it has made the Xbox look like its competing for the same exact audience and press attention.
Will be interesting to see all 3 consoles launching entirely out of sync, people already twist themselves backwards trying to box the Nintendo consoles in the made up Generational brackets.
Interesting thought: remember when Windows went from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, under some crazy logic about it being the 10th major release or what not? I would not be shocked if they do something similar and the next XBox is called something akin to XBox G6, counting the One X as a "major release".
Would be interesting to see such a hypothetical XBox G6 launch in 2025 just in time for GTAVI.
@HonestHick
Honestly, the XBox One X was way more powerful than the PS4 or PS4 Pro, and that didn't make a difference. Despite their power, the best selling console month to month was still the PS4 slim. Few players actually care about the super-pro power. This is precisely why the Series S exists, MS saw the same in the Xbox also sold more One S consoles than One X.
And of those that care for power, they can get so much more out of PCs. The Pro consoles wont be cheap this time around. Expect to pay $700 or more for those, when you enter that realm, you might as well start looking at a PC. I have a 4070 TI PC that puts my XSX and PS5 to shame, and no pro console will likely match it (then again, it cost me $1800 so there is that too).
@HonestHick
There is no concrete proof Sony is doing anything. So until it's announced I wouldn't hold your breath
@HonestHick
The rumored specs have it at 23TFLOPS
Surely that must be a typo mate, if those specs are anything close to genuine, than what will the PS6 be? A 45TFLOPS console? Hmmm, it sound way to outlandish to me, but hey the more(power) the merrier.
Edit : I dread to think what shape/size(the console) it will take to accommodate the cooling system to keep such a monster from melting😁.
@ZuneTattooGuy No, not what I meant. 2025 is fine, if that's when it's ready. Just saying I can't get excited about watching a trailer for a game that's probably two years away. Loads of stuff to focus on before I'll be anywhere near interested in that.
@StarDreamCan never thought about it that way.. that actually does sound like fun
@HonestHick @Sol4ris I think that Microsoft will let Sony release a PS5 Pro and that one year later or so, Microsoft would launch a new console, but it will be cross-gen friendly, like Series S|X. The way Xbox is blurring generations makes the upgrades more consumer-friendly. In any case, I really can't see a 2-year gap between a new PS and a new Xbox. If there is a new PS in 2024, there will be a new Xbox in 2025. Maybe GTA VI launches when there are new PS and Xbox in the market.
@Solaris If the next PS has 45TFLOPS, it will be more or less like a full-sized fridge with arms, LED lights and wings... and wheels.
@Reptilio You implied that you'd prefer playing as a male protagonist and they're getting ready to crucify you 🤣. My bet is that you can choose one of the two.
@Banjo-
If the next PS has 45TFLOPS, it will be more or less like a full-sized fridge with arms, LED lights and wings... and wheels
....we'll just have to shift some furniture around😅😅... There was a time when people didn't buy Xbox consoles due to size...than the PS5 happened 🤣
@Banjo- No, he implied that there is a problem with the protagonist being Latina and showed his ignorance by labeling this almost certainly not Mexican woman as Mexican.
@fraserg How is reptillos comment still up? I come to this site for the well moderated community more than anything else. Allowing this type of pointless ***** comment does not make for a good well moderated community.
@RBRTMNZ "and showed his ignorance by labeling this almost certainly not Mexican woman as Mexican."
I don't know, maybe he can't tell the difference. It's not easy. For me it's very difficult to tell where any of the South America accents is from, whether they speak Spanish or English, even though I identify all accents and vocabulary from Spain immediately because half of my family is from Spain. Besides, Spaniards are different physically (Caucasian).
Side note: It was completely awful hearing all the villagers in Resident Evil 4 speak South America Spanish, because the story takes place in Spain. I couldn't take that seriously.
@Sol4ris Exactly 🤣.
@Banjo- That's perfectly fine but there are better ways to handle that confusion. I don't go around calling all Asian people Chinese when I am unable to discern their ethnicity.
@ZuneTattooGuy the same rumor that pointed out the PS5 Slim, PS Portal and PS5 Pro have all been right so far. Even Rockstar CEO commented about a Pro. Dev Kit’s are suppose to go out now- early 2024 and if you look at certain games on PS5 they have a setting already there for uncapped support that can’t be used yet. So it’s a good hint that some of the games out now can already take advantage of the Pro power in mid to late 2024 and beyond. Now does Sony need a Pro? Not really they are doing more than just fine with the base PS5, but this is what makes Sony a ruthless competitor, when they are in the lead they don’t take their foot off the gas and they love to create hardware. Last point i will make and it could be for PS6, but has been linked to the PS5 Pro is the updated ray tracing tech they have created. That is linked to go into this PS5 Pro. I have the PS5 Pro at a 75% chance of happening and 25% chance they will just move onto PS6. The cards are all on the table for us to see they are doing a Pro.
@Tharsman well Theres a few things to unpack here as you did an excellent job laying out some great info. I largely agree with it all. First one to get out of the way is Microsoft’s naming convention sucks and it’s hard to tell what they will call the next Xbox. But i do think they will try and get new hardware out sooner than PS as they did with the 360 and update them quicker as AI will be the new design language and that will advance quicker and quicker.
As for power in consoles vs PC. I can’t argue with your point cause it’s true however there are lot’s of people like me that don’t want a PC or don’t want to game there cause it’s not plug and play and you have to wait for big games to come out if they ever do and then look at how many launch as buggy mess’s. So for me as an Apple user of nearly 20 years, i have no interest in PC. However i make enough money and have no debt so I can afford to be in this hobby at the cutting edge, thankfully. I have 2 LG oled’s in the house C1 & C2. In the media/game room i have a $4,000 dollar surround sound and all 3 consoles. Not bragging trying to make my point for the Pro. So as someone that wants to be on console and not PC but whats all the power i can get to display at the highest level on my gear. I would pay $700 for a pro. I don’t think Sony will charge that much cause they will want the Pro to be a little more than just niche. But they know they will only sell a few million of them compared to the base. Having a Pro and running games at 4K/60 on console will look close to high end PC as the games will be optimized insanely well. That is attractive to me and i loved the one X and PS4 Pro. I understand MS not doing it since they really aren’t moving many console unit’s, but as i said early on another post this is what makes Sony a ruthless competitor. They don’t even need a Pro to be the coolest kid on the market and yet they will do it to further push their games and brand into more homes. Your thoughts? I really appreciate these types of discussions and you are very wise to them. 😀
@Sol4ris here is a link to the rumored specs Sony is attempting to use. They are scary powerful. You can search some on your own but yes, at the moment they are aiming for 23Tflops.
https://www.tomsguide.com/news/leaked-ps5-pro-specs-show-how-it-could-crush-the-xbox-series-x
@Sol4ris @Banjo- yes i do believe the rumors are 2026 for the next Xbox and Sony would delay and wait until 2027 or early 2028 for PS6. Again how much we can take those as concrete isn’t super high but i am sure they are target dates pending anything crazy. Also MS is rumored to maybe use their new AI chip MAIA in the next Xbox, as the in house chip will be used in Azure and other MS services and products. Now it’s a ARM chip so what would that do for BC? I don’t know. But if MS is really wanting to use in house chips and leverage their AI then this could have some merit to the claim.
As for the PS5 Pro, yeah NO!! It won’t be 40ish TFLOPS. But again there is 20 plus sites you can go to to see the plans for PS5 Pro and it hits 23Tflops. Which is a little more than doubling the base PS5. Could it be a big console? Sure but the days of small consoles with Ray tracing, trying to hit 60fps and everything else we want our consoles to achieve. They are not going to be coming in as little square boxes anymore. They are mini powerful PC’s and those don’t tend to be the size of a PS2 or 360. Case in point we have a smaller box on the market now in the Series S and more people complain about it due to its limitations than they do appreciate it for being small and affordable.
@HonestHick My thought is that either the hypothetical PS5 Pro will be a minimum of $700, or it wont actually be as big a leap as many hope. Even accepting losses, there is only so much they can take before it eats into their profitability. Sony already is running on way thinner profit margins than Xbox and Nintendo, and felt forced to increase the price of their PS5 (twice!, the slim is actually another price increase!) not lower it.
So, regardless power, I doubt they will try to eat much of the cost of producing a PS5 Pro. This is why I feel $700 is as low as they can go with any significant performance gains.
As for the playing in console thing, I hear you. I still play primarily on consoles, generally am not crazy about playing on PC, but I have been playing Starfield on my PC. I get to have 60fps AND ultra-wide resolution. Yes, some games launch way buggier on PC, but it goes both ways. Lets not forget what mess Cyberpunk was on consoles. The PC version was considered "good" (performance wise, the game did have other logic issues that were universal regardless of platform).
@Tharsman yeah Cyberpunk is a great example. I am going to disagree with you slightly in the sense i think the tech used in the PS5 Pro is much cheaper now. Plus they are simply just over clocking it as they have to to keep BC and compatibility. So if i were to guess i would think it comes in at $550-$600 and we might even get our first price reduction in the base console. Again we will have to see how that plays out. But i don’t expect $700 as they will be using RDNA 3 and AMD chips that are just slightly better than whats in the PS5 now. It’s the over clocking like in the PS4 pro that does a lot of the muscle. This is going to be interesting, i even seen online from a reputable source that MS is trying to keep a lower budget in mind for the next Xbox. So i am curious if true what that means and looks like. Man i just love this type of stuff. I am not trying to say i know it all. I just like to discuss what i read from those i trust. Console gaming excites me and i think we have an interesting and promising future ahead.
@HonestHick The PS5 itself is $550 in most regions and they are not launching the PS5 slim any cheaper. They are only keeping the lower tag in the US, something that has been largely attributed at it being the one market where Xbox actually is giving Sony some solid competition.
If it's true we will not see an XBox mid-gen upgrade, that gives Sony even less reason to keep things cheap in the US.
If they just do overclocking, then the performance gain honestly wont be worth it, IMO. There **is** a chance they sell it for $700 with a bundled game, but it will likely be a game everyone already owns by its launch (Spider-Man 2 or God of War Ragnarok).
Edit:
At the end, I doubt the price difference between both consoles will be lower than $100. with the PS5 starting at 550 in most regions, the minimum I expect is $650 (even the US despite lower slim price) and then only if the boost is simply marginal.
@Tharsman very well could be. Most outlets see it at no more than $599. But we have to wait and see if the Slim at some point comes down in price which at the moment won’t happen. Inflation in the world is at an all time high and that plays a factor of course as well. But the slim was to make Sony more money and reduce the weight in shipping them as another cost savings. My guess is if the Pro were to launch in say October 2024. Thats when they would shift the pricing around if they can. I think we will learn more about the PS5 Pro and if they are for sure launching it around the big summer time show case. There was a rumor that they could scrap the project and move focus to the PS6 but that was debunked and some even claiming dev kits for it are starting to go out soon. Can’t wait to learn more.
@HonestHick
Thanks for the link hombre, it makes for an interesting reading for sure, however I feel the specs are way beyond what one would call way to wild.
Honestly, if those rumours would be speculatives for the next gen PS/Xbox I would be very impressed, perhaps even going as high as 25TFLOPS😁.
But for the PS5pro? Definitely a big ask, I mean Sony are selling the PS portal for £199.99, what would they want for a 23TF PS5pro? Not saying is not coming, jut curious on the capabilities at a relatively reasonable price.
As for the next gen Xbox having an ARM chip, assuming they follow the leaked documents spec(the rumours source?) it will just throw a huge spanner in Microsoft's preservation strategy via BC. There is also a question of just how capable will the console be, DF were quite suspicious and scathing. Anyway interesting times ahead.
@Sol4ris i don’t know a lot about the Maia chip other than what MS has shared. It’s obviously built in house at MS, it’s a AI focused Arm chip and it will power the future MS products. Brad Sims i think his name is and he has a MS channel. Really good content. Worth your time if this stuff is of interest to you. I’ll link the video. But that would kill off all their BC work and that can’t be looked at as a good thing. However looking at flight simulator using cloud tech wow is that ever impressive. So this could be a thing. Yes the PS5 Pro specs are insane. That is why i am talking about them on a Xbox page. If this plays out that way this thing is a powerhouse that will give Sony huge marketing advantages for games like a GTA 6. Will it end up being 23 TFLOPS i don’t know. But if it does like many say it will then holy crap my friend that is nearly twice a Series X. We could be looking at full ray tracing 4K/60 fps with the right optimization. I agree with what you said i am only the messenger from what i am gathering from the “facts” they know as of now. 😀

@HonestHick @Sol4ris I'm also somebody that doesn't want to play on PC. I am willing to wait for a 60fps patch or for the next console if the performance bothers me, like in some games from the last generation. My backlog is huge and I don't feel the urge to play the latest game, but I understand that many people do. My latest day-one purchases/pre-orders were Sonic and Project Zero/Fatal Frame games. I waited for Monster Hunter World to really be 60fps to play it more and that didn't happen on Xbox One X but on Series X, just one example.
Regarding the next consoles, I don't see Microsoft dropping any kind of backwards compatibility at all, but using their high-end cloud technologies to improve software, even if it means having two chips or whatever.
The PS4 Pro was basically an overclocked PS4, so I think that PS5 Pro might be an overclocked PS5, that was already overclocked when Sony found out how powerful Series X was. I don't think that the PS5 Pro will make a huge difference technologically because it just won't be worth it or it would be too expensive. I think that the next properly new consoles won't launch with more than a one-year time gap. Sony loves making hardware: PSVR, PSVR2, Portal... but Microsoft does, too: desktop PC, laptops, tablets, smartphones...
Although they want Xbox on multiple platforms, I think they are more concerned about the console, PC and mobile markets and they know that Sony and Nintendo don't want Game Pass on their closed systems. Sony and Microsoft are competitors and they both know how important third-party games are, that's why Sony paid for keeping games/DLC off Xbox and that's why Microsoft answered buying a whole giant. The rumoured Series X All-Digital Edition 2TB would be Microsoft's answer to PS5 Slim. This should give us a clue, Sony and Microsoft won't let each other have more advantage than what is necessary and that means if one of them makes a new-gen console, the other will follow in one year, at most.
