Last month, we caught wind that Cyberpunk 2077's 'Ultimate Edition' was due to drop on Xbox before the end of the year - as picked up by the PEGI ratings board in October. Six weeks or so later, this bumper edition of Cyberpunk 2077 has been confirmed, and the Xbox version gets a much-welcome bonus.
As revealed by the dev team's global communications director, the Xbox Series X version of this new physical bundle has the DLC right on the disc. Over on PS5 it'll be a download voucher, which means the Xbox version should hold significant value on the second-hand market - and you'll be able to lend it to a buddy with the DLC included.
That DLC, of course, is September's excellent Phantom Liberty expansion - which we believe has transformed the game into what it was always intended to be. CDPR's now-famous RPG is in a much better place in 2023, and this Ultimate Edition package should be well worth it for physical edition fans on Xbox.
Anyway, the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition arrives as a physical release for Xbox Series X on December 5th - and it'll contain all of the game's updates so far along with the Phantom Liberty story expansion.
More likely to grab a copy of this with DLC on-disc? Let us know what you think down below.

What an odd decision. I wonder why Xbox has it and PlayStation doesn't. 🤔
I am sure the tinfoil hats will say that Microsoft paid to block DLC on disc on PlayStation, but somehow, I doubt it's anything nefarious as all that.
@GamingFan4Lyf I think it's even more baffling that CDPR hasn't just come out and said why instead of keeping us guessing 😂
I still don’t think CD Project Red likes Sony very much after Sony pulled Cyberpunk from their store. Look at all the crappy games in the store.. and Cyberpunk gets pulled.
Weird. Agree with other posters that it's a baffling decision.
Though for preservation's sake i'd be more concerned whether the on disc game is the latest version and not the broken launch version.
@Ocat It wasn't really the quality that got CyberPunk pulled. It was because CDPR told gamers to get a refund from Sony without consulting Sony first. Bit of a d*** move tbh when it was your game that was broken. Sony responded, slightly petulantly, by pulling it from the store. Bad moves all around. Six of one, half a dozen on the other.
It might be to increase player engagement on PS5. I'm pulling this from my 🍑
That’s one way to tell a large user base not to buy the physical version.
@GamingFan4Lyf Its not the first time I've seen this. Idk if Phantom Liberty is on disc or a download that is tied to the disc. However with Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition the Cod 4 remaster was available to download via a download tied to the disc so it has infinite uses as far as I can tell. The ps4 version was tied to a download code included in the case.
That's because the Xbox is the number one console. It gets special treatment. No one is playing this on the PS5.
@JON22 Decrease maybe. Lol. Hence why the disc version (as well as the digital version) is available on the Xbox. More players, more choices.
Only reasons I can think of on Sonys part is they want parity across PS5 digital and disc version. Or cheaper just to release one dl code for all PS users than have to release a disc version too. After all PS slim is the first console ever to actually increase price over the base model while significantly reducing manufacturing costs. I think Sony are really counting those pennies.
Its because Sony’s policy is to have on disc dlc be classified as its own product i believe so there is reclassification and expenses on CDPR side to get that done. It’s a Sony policy that maybe needs to be changed since it isnt required on other platforms i believe.
@J_Mo_Money Nail on the head, agree with this.
@J_Mo_Money so why is it not available on pc ?
