If the reports are true and Star Wars Outlaws is Ubisoft's "large game" pushed out of an "early 2024" release window, it seems we might already have another Ubisoft title to fill the same launch period.
According to the video game company's latest earnings report, an update on Skull and Bones says that the pirate game will now be arriving at some point between January and March 2024. A more specific launch date still alludes Skull & Bones at the time of writing.
Our previous update on the title was shared at the start of this year, with the game then scheduled to arrive between April 2023 and March 2024. It seems that Ubisoft is aiming for a similar window, but it has now been narrowed down to just three months at the beginning of next year.
Whether the game actually makes that launch window remains to be seen. Skull and Bones was first announced at E3 in 2017, and since then has had its release window repeatedly pushed back. Earlier this year it also made another return with a closed beta, although we've not heard much about the game since.
If we hear any further updates about Skull & Bones, we'll let you know. How do you feel about this latest setback? Tell us in the comments.

With them delaying other games and canceling projects this game is becoming the poster child of "sunken cost fallacy".
I have been waiting for this game for so very long, that I am sceptical that it shall ever see the light of day.
After waiting for years, all i can say is that it had better worth the wait.
At the time, this was exactly the kind pirate adventure game I was looking for. But that was then - I have no idea what the ultimate end product will finally look like now.
@abe_hikura From what I understand, due to how this game was financed and some local laws over tax exemption or what not, this title cant be cancelled even if they wanted to.
I think at this point they just need to release the game, whatever state it is in. The chips will be stacked against it regardless and the meme brigade will be out for it in numbers. But it might find an audience.
Meanwhile the devs can finally move on.
EDIT: @Tharsman Yes this is correct. Deal with Singaporean government reportedly means it has to release.
Yikes AAA games are a gamble to develop. S&B is a development money pit. Outlaws new name will be Outlaws and Bones at this rate…
Shiver me timbers! This be what I was hoping far Christmas. Guess I'll have to settle for a pint of egg grog til it comes out.
It's bloody awful.
Here we go again, again.
@Tharsman At a certain point you'll have to assume they'll give up and just release it as "free early access" and drop it once the MTX train ends.
I'll believe it when I see it.
